We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

I reckon Dunn, Frost, Stretch and Wagner will all come in. Frost in the backline where he belongs.

Additional omissions will be Kent and Bugg.

Both are named in the starting 18, so they are guaranteed not to be dropped.  Other changes will come from the interchange bench, where Oliver and Pedersen have been named as well.

Form at Casey doesn't mean flicking the switch after one good showing in a VFL practice match! Otherwise Petracca and Trengove would be in the team before ANB. He is a promising young player who is on the comeback trail after an interrupted pre-season. He will get his chance. Next....

Gus is out. Was he a mistake playing too soon as well as not putting in Dunn in against daniher. Also pederson should have been dropped. Garland out is a fair call. I cant see him in our top 22 moving forward.

Wtf, no ANB again. What a joke. Has he asked to move back to SA or something?

That one's not making sense is it?

How many games has Wagner dominated for Casey?

What has Harmes, a player the same age as Neal-Bullen, done in the first two weeks to hold his spot?

The week Melbourne play a game in Hobart, Col is dropped. Fair to say he'd be disappointed.

Anyway, interested to see how the senior blokes lift, as North are, if anything, a hard- bodied and mature team.

Few lucky boys, that Roos, like a decent coach has shown faith in. However think we are about to find out a bit about Bugg, Kent and Harms this week.

I don't understand ANB's continued absence from all squads, and I have not just started saying it this week.

He has a big tank, can run all day, perfect for 2016 footy with the limited interchange.

I, like others, am concerned there is something else going on.

Was prepared for the disappointment of ANB not being named. Why would a rubbish team need a player who had 36 possessions and kicked 2 goals? We have James Harmes.

Garland gets made part of the leadership group. Dropped by Round 3.

It's verging on a comedy act, really.

Going on last year,  VFL players needed to put together consistently high standards for 4 or 3 weeks consecutive.

I don't think we should change away from this principle,  of being a solid contributor.   We've been crying out for depth to create pressure on those at VFL level to lift standards,  & to pressure our AFL boys to perform highly.    this is the right recipe to go forward.

Don't disagree, but the VFL season hasn't even started yet, so not much of a form line to go off, and ANB could not have done much more than he did last week.

Surely, at the very least, an encouraging spot in the extended squad.

Well about time Dunn came back in. Nth have a tall forward line so I hope we aren't out of our depth. Thompson back for nth. He will niggle and annoy Hogan so much to put him off his game. I hope Jesse has a good frame of mind this week and just focuses on his job.

Big job for Maxy this week against Goldstein. I just hope we can pull off a win because we haven't beaten them the last 14 times. We owe them.

We Demonlanders are often surprised about the outs and replacements.  Wagner is another prime example, as is the omission of ANB. I wonder if the consistent things Roos and the selectors are looking for are not possessions and/or goals but a list of attitudes and on-field acts that go unnoticed by us but are of paramount importance to them?

ANB has had good games, and one beauty last week, but is that consistency?

Do any of the Casey watchers (I tried to be one last couple of years but have moved to the country) have any info on what consistency Wagner has displayed?

Has Dunn's game shown consistency in NAB challenge and at Casey?

This weekend's game is almost impossible to pick. The team balance looks slightly off still, but we notoriously play well in thesd situations, even if we don't win.

that's right, although there is the practice games which have elevated Dunny  &  Wagner.  & don't forget Oliver.  but that's the name of the game, he will get his go, but he will earn it hard.

Grimes performed well for 3 or 4 consecutive weeks?

Frost was omitted and comes straight back in the following week. Based on...what?

I get the theory of earning a spot but it has be applied consistently and when a team performs as unbelievably poorly as it did o the weekend, with so many putting in pitiful efforts, I would've hoped to see a talented player who had a blinder get recognised.

But spilt milk. I can't see the team named getting anywhere near them. Will hope for a miracle.

ANB is a 2nd year player who had an interrupted pre-season, interrupted first season and interrupted junior career, who's played 1 VFL practise game. Not surprised they haven't rushed him back in. Madness to think there's any more to it than that.

Garland is no star, but what chance did he have against Daniher last week? He must have had a 2 foot reach advantage on Col. Roos didn't have a plan B and so its Garlands fault Daniher dominated. Frost out, Frost in. Confidence is starting to wain.

Didn't stop him from playing half the games last year.

How much more form do Grimes, Wagner and Stretch have?

Pretty sure we saw enough of Kent last week Dockett. I would prefer to learn more watching him at Casey.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
