Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

NT deal done?

NT Government slams Melbourne Demons for lack of community engagement, seeks replacement AFL club

I know we only see it from our side, but I thought our community engagement work looked stellar.

I wonder what this means for the sponsorship?

Now that I come to think of it, I can't recall that the NT was mentioned at the season launch.

Please make it happen that we get some other form of sponsorship, that the AFL gives us a better run of Friday night home games and that we never have to sell our home games interstate again.

Is it entirely that NT is unhappy with mfc or is it, at least in part, because: '...three clubs have expressed an interest to play in the Territory — these clubs are Melbourne Demons, Essendon and Port Adelaide,” Barrett told NT News'?

I would have thought the new Multicultural Zones (all 3 clubs have a zone in NT) are designed to deliver all the things the Minister is looking for.  Call me cynical but I reckon the other clubs are piggy backing off the AFL funding they will get to sweeten a deal with NT and oust us in the process.

Have we been slow off the mark to tap into the Multicultural Zone negotiations?  We will be involved in NT zones whether they sponsor us or not so we may have some fences to mend.

But if there is a God, please do not less us lose the sponsorship to the Windy Hill cheats!

I think the community engagement all started to drop off when we opted with the Sunshine Coast heat and humidity training as opposed to remaining up there.

Alice Springs had Petracca and Trengove do some community stuff but they were injured. I believe the rest of the group flew in, played the game and flew out.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is being beautifully orchestrated by Action Jackson himself.

I am surprised by this. The club always ended up with a lot pf PR over visits to remote communities etc. So maybe there were expectations of other benefits for the NT.....will be interesting to see what comes out.

If proven that we don't treat sponsors well it would be the first real blemish for PJ................

one would think that when the sponsorship contract was drawn up there would be very specific conditions laid out for both sides to comply with
i suspect this nt minister is now looking for something different to the conditions that their own people originally signed up to

it's probably more political than anything to do with contract performance

I'd be interested in what specific community engagement activities the Eels have done that we haven't done. When and where they visited. It seems a bit iffy to me.

Have we won a game there yet? Financials aside, it hasn't been a resounding success story on the field. The conditions have tended to have a knock on effect the following week as well. At least they have appeared to.

The NT News is easily the worst tabloid in Australia. The actual quotes did not reflect the severity of the headline. NT politics is also an absolute circus so I wouldn't be surprised if this is just Giles trying to get more money out of the AFL.

I was going to mention this

the NT News is on a par with The Truth Newspaper of the 70's and 80's so it could be all BS

But as i said. A deal closer should win us more games.

We have been down this road before but I cannot help myself.

We have lost after Darwin Games in the past because we have had a crap team

We could not beat anyone anywhere that is the reason it has bugger all to do with going to Darwin

WA sides have been travel to the east every other week for years, when they have had good sides they win when not so good they lose.

The WCE won  flags travelling back and forth in a final series.

It ain't Darwin it is the list we have had.

The sooner we get out of there the better , playing in that heat twice a year ,and forgoing home games in Melbourne, could be the difference between winning an extra game or two.

I think the argument Old Dee is the taxing conditions Darwin provides more so then the length of the flight.

I have no idea how you can judge when the whole time we have been going there we could beat time with a stick.

Cash grab. Even against Freo we had a smaller supporter base at the game. Port and Essendon are the two most followed teams in Darwin - the NT gov shifts their sponsorship $ over and they get more exposure as well as a greater economic injection with the larger influx of tourists.

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
