He offered us hope and excitement, for a short period.

He has moved on, and from our point of view and with the immense benefits of hindsight he did it at just the right time.

Some good memories, but I am so glad that we have all moved on.

Conflicted.

The humanitarian in me doesn't like seeing his disappointing plight and the Demon in me gets some satisfaction and hopes he never plays again.

I feel sorry for him.

The guy immense talent. Some of the games he played for us were unbelievable.

I would have loved to watch him play in the same forward line as Hogan.

SORRY!!!!, How can u or respect someone who doesnt respect anyone. A very shallow, selfish individual who pulls the pin when it gets all too hard.. oh but puts in more effort on getting paid out and finding another club. How many pics do u c of him having a laugh with teammates...0

Wat u reckon Selwood's opinion on the person Clark is.. For a person who wouldnt be short of a story it sureis quite on the Mitch Clark front.

Treat people with respect and it normally gets paid back in spades though if u need to be told this.....?

As a supporter who loves the MFC I want to despise Mitch, but I have too much experience with people suffering this sort of thing to really place the blame with him.  The thing is that there is nothing more selfish than a mental illness. It's very easy for a healthy person to say that he's been dishonest or lacking in integrity, but this is someone who's brain has more or less been hijacked.  When the illness is in control those concepts just aren't a factor.  I think one of the hardest things to understand as an observer is that this isn't someone making a choice to behave like this.  It's not a matter of them having a really really strong urge to do things that they should know not to.  More often than not they don't see any other option.  Their illness won't let them.

I rewound clip dozen times and it doesn't lie. There isn't a Geelong player who makes contact. 3 cats, 1 caught spoiling from behind, 1 attempting this from side on almost behind 1st player i mentioned and the other attempting to follow Brown chasing him as he runs back with flight of the ball. Nobody is nor comes near clark nor is any position to get elbowed except Brown who does.  Plenty of time for Clark to tuck arm in to protect himself  but he no joke...takes Browns head off. Watch the footage intently, pause, rewind...is this for real??

It stinks to high heaven and im trying to.be restrained however it isn't hard to communicate and if "the illness won't let you" im sure i read he had one of these things they call..MANAGERS!!

Call conference explain how it effects him if feels uncomfortable at the club, instead of putting his hand out at, FMD!! the worse time to pillage the payroll and im sure people would bend over backwards to help or sympathise. ANYONE?? Pi55 weak individual and i dare someone to say otherwise. No more PC rubbish, big difference between being a troll to telling it straight. Life isnt black and white.....a lot of Grey

I watched it several times I think a Geelong player comes in from the side just at the last second that moves Clark into direct contact with Brown. It doesn't look good I admit but these things happen so quickly with bodies going everywhere, who knows what Clark was thinking. Brown had too much courage, to the point of recklessness. He should have pulled out as soon as he sensed Clark coming at the ball.

All in all he not much of a human being after backdooring club. Especially doing it from the confines of safety at home by taking easy way of not talking face to face.C'mon, really? Im sure the Geelong decision was made after leftthe club but im happy to be corrected.

Its not wat he did but how he did it. Has depression needs to step away from the game.. Not a problem, also collects a fair payout...Again, not a problem. 11th hr approach by another club... Be open however as Dees done everything possible to be accommodating it wouldn't be fair to play, and lets not forget the poor boy feels hard don...sorry Depressed  so he takes 12mths off to get healthy b4 thinking of playing. Guess what? ?? No problem even if with another team. Why??

Because  he was open, not clichéd. Also still collects $$. Honestly nobody would bat an eyelid and wished him well

My Geelong mate was rubbing it in my face when they picked him up last year, I told him they wouldn't get a full season out of him and I was right.

He will retire or be delisted by seasons end.

We didn't dodge a bullet. Mitch was hit by a 50mm and it is still travelling through Bribane, Melbourne, Geelong and wherever Mitch is. Good luck Mitch.

Because I have clinical depression too and I can relate to him.

The 'selfish' label is very harsh. When you have an illness like depression, you specifically need to do what's best for your mental health, even if it's to the detriment of others. This is because often a source of depression is trying too hard to please everyone, failing to do so, and then being unable to pick up the pieces (because your brain is quite literally not working properly) when you're ripped in several directions at once. From personal experience, some people in your life will understand this, some will not. If it comes down to being loyal to your employer or doing what's best for yourself, you have to do what's best for yourself. The employer will recover. You might not.

Did it hurt when Clark left? Absolutely. Do I hold it against him? Absolutely not.

 I'm honestly trying to work out whether you guys are taking the Alex Fasolo. No 7 for the Cats pushes Clark as he goes to jump (so has very little control of his body), then gets contact from No 44 which knocks him further off balance, his arm is pretty out of control but it's when 44 for the Cats that it gets thrown into Brown. First replay shows this, second replay only has point of contact with Brown.

Seems like he's perennially injured or troubled, I'd be surprised if he hasn't lost passion to play.

Biggest shame is his level of talent deserved a much better career. The Cats don't need him like we did. And yeah, it's a dream to imagine him with Hogan. Especially since they lived together when Hogan first came over.

You forgot to add that all this was done in a split second..Giant suggests that no-one comes near Clark - the video shows that he is running at the ball while participating in shoving match with his direct opponent. Giant's critique completely leaves out that Enright bumped Clark and changed his direction mid air. ! How anyone can suggest this was deliberate is just beyond belief.

i believe mitch might have brain damage causing his depression, before his foot he had that huge head knock with the ground going for a hunger, this might have caused brain damage, this could be why he has repeat injuries, he has negtive thoughts due to his depression, people with negative thinking are injured more often and are unable to play through injury.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
