Angus Brayshaw's knee injury (minor strain - 4 weeks)

Featured Replies

Low grade medial and should be right for round 1 on current prognosis.

Nothings for certain but if they are confident it's not the ACL or other damage then that's a good result, it was a nasty landing on what I assume was firm ground.

Have they said anything much about Angus Brayshaw's injury?

Simon Goodwin mentioned it was a minor medial injury in his press conference. Thought he should be ok for round one.

Diagnosis of a medial strain is good news in itself as far as knee injuries go.

Wait for the scans. It's concerning that he can't weight bear on that lower limb.

But is it a case of can't bear weight, or is avoiding doing so until it is fully investigated?

Honestly, if the kid's done a knee, I'm gonna break stuff and make a sacrifice to the footy gods!

I can't wait to see Petracca, Brayshaw, Hogan, Harmes, Vanders, Stretcha and ANB in the same team!

But he could.  He was walking slowly, nut normally in the rooms.

The crutches were merely to protect the knee until they have scans.

ACL you can test before the scans. You can put pressure on it pretty easily to make sure it's intact.

Drawer test isn't totally accurate though, they'll still do scans to make sure.

Petracca could walk on his when he did his knee.

He didn't twist it, it was the force of the tackle that his knee hit the ground hard when he was pushed in the back.

From the MFC website: "After the game and on crutches, Brayshaw was unable to put any weight on his left leg."

I'd be more concerned about a minor fracture or the so-called "bone bruising" that shows up on MRI given the mechanism of injury. ACL tear appears unlikely (but still possible, or PCL).

Petracca's was different in that he jarred his knee landing.

Brayshaw didn't, he was forced into the ground. He didn't seem to twist or hyperextend the knee...

So let's hope for the best.

Let's argue about this not knowing the details. We can keep ourselves amused for hours.

Alternatively we could wait for the scans.

Damn you and your illegal tackle Hartlett

I'll expect the worst.

Cause that's how we roll.

That's not how we roll here at Demonland though Bob.  There are 'doctor's' littered all over this site who'll be able to determine what's happened without scans or actually being there.  Let them have their fun!

Not a problem. We now have Goodwin's Law in force, if only for the next few weeks.

Doesn't seem like anyone is super worried about it, so that's a good sign, i reckon if it were an ACL we'd know by now.

That's what I would call desperate.

Try Nostradamus, I never have any luck calling him, he seems to know when I am going to ring him, and the phone rings out.

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
