Gary Ablett Sr. That enough of a star for you?

No, not really, he wasn't an interstate player, completely different situation to Jesse Hogan. Plus Ablett wasn't a star when he left Hawthorn, he was wayward and unpredictable, there was no certainty at the time he'd even line up at Geelong.

Right, so you won't accept any examples unless it's exactly the same situation, the player has the same name, same club, same date of birth and same birthmark...

You wanted an example of a budding star player who changed teams in Victoria. Gary Ablett Sr. is exactly that.

Why would Hogan leave MFC for another Vic club? That is a harder question to answer. He won't, it simply doesn't happen. I asked you to name another player in Hogan's position that it happened to and you thrown up FA's, fringe players and reformed drug addicts. Jesse Hogan is a budding young superstar, he has developed friendships at the MFC and started his career here, on top of that we can afford to pay him a top dollar, he isn't going to jump ship to another Vic club.

I told you why, if one of them can orchestrate the type of farce that got Judd to Carlton instead of Melbourne - $$$$$$$$$$ Say whatever you want about the salary cap, it is an easily avoidable obstacle through which loopholes can navigate

There were other examples, they fallen under fringe players, players looking for more opportunities, and WADA players. I would put Ablett under the category of looking for opportunities.

Wasn't Henderson a FA? Suckling a FA? Melksham and Carlisle rare cases - for obvious reasons. Kennedy and Fitzpatrick left due to lack of opportunity. Yarran basically thrown out. How are these players even remotely comparative to Jesse Hogan?

Henderson wasn't a FA.

Gary Ablett played for Drouin in 1983. Good try though kid.

I haven't got a whole lot of interest in either of them.

Trading our "2017 first round draft pick" for another club's first rounder in 2016 would be my preference.

Why not? Either of them would immediately make our team better and wouldn't require the development that a draft pick would. They're also both proven high-quality AFL players, whereas draft picks are purely speculative. By the time 2017 rolls around, we should be a very competitive side and be looking to top it off. Prestia/O'Meara would be ideal targets for us.

Missing the point. He didn't go to another VFL Club. He left the entire Comp for a season or two. For reasons that have been speculated on ever since.

Ottens is a good call. And of course resulted in us getting Maloney. Say no more.

Think we missed the boat with Prestia. If we couldn't lure him away the past two years, I don't think we'll get him next year if other more successful Victorian clubs enter the race.

O'Meara will go somewhere else like Hawthorn or Collingwood.

Drouin - Hawthorn ('82) - Myrtleford - Geelong ('84)

Played 6 games at Hawks, before returning to VFL from Myrtleford to Geelong. Believed he failed to settle in the big smoke early days.

I'm not necessarily saying we're a monty to get him, but the last 2 years he was contracted and we had not yet shown the clear signs of improvement that will be on display this coming season.

The club is all over Prestia and is quietly confident. The fact we traded out next seasons 1st round pick is of little consequence. We can trade 2017 first round for a start.  If Prestia says he wants to be traded to Melbourne, he will be a Dee in 2017.  Our performance this season is very important for Prestia and perhaps Hogan, but I also hear that contract negotiations for Hogan are going very well and he could be signed to a mega deal before round 1. Fingers crossed!!
