Not sure it will be sung with any more gusto if it is changed to include the word Melbourne. Cannot see much point in tinkering for so little gain. The logo, absolutely. It was terrible IMO. The song, please no change.

As others have said, we won premierships under that song. It has heritage value.

Even attempting to change the song would have Bartlett out on his arse in a flash.

DO NOT TOUCH IT! Not sure I can make it clearer.

I love our song and reckon it's the second best in the league. No need to change it.

Correct.

Not everyone knows it's Melbourne's song.

Every other club has the reference of their name or mascot in it. It helps people identify the brand. What's our brand given yesterdays news? Melbourne.

I even hate when there are alternate versions of our song played on the radio.

Example - League Teams on SEN with Finey has an alternate version and i hate it.

The only way they could possibly change it is to get the original Fable Singers to re-record it..

...but i'm pretty sure they are dead.

The song is only ever played on game day at the ground, so it's kind of irrelevant to the brand in terms of attracting new supporters.

You don't hear it until you're already a Demon.

I'd be disappointed if they changed it.

I know what you're saying, but I don't think the song is irrelevant to the brand - which is Melbourne. It's relevant IMO.

And it's not just played on game day at the ground. It's played on radio stations throughout the year outside of games, during the week - identifiable with sponsors advertisements.

People have to look at the bigger picture here.

Wash your mouth out with soap my friend.

I'd be opposed to it but what the heck there never listened to the fans before.

Yeah go for it.

Get Guy Sebastian to perform it at the next Eurovision Song Contest. Have a guest verse featuring Lil' Wayne.

If you're gunna [censored] it up, [censored] it up properly.

Actually that^ should be a new line in the song.

Seeing there is no 'Melbourne' reference in the song, perhaps others may get confused with the Dogs?

What would people from overseas, visitors to Melbourne or the newest Melburnians think!? They may associate the song to the red, white and blue team.

But apparently everyone knows.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
