NATIONAL DRAFT PICKS 3 & 7

Featured Replies

This sounds more like something said at a seminary. I'm just a bit disappointed you didn't find a way to include Francis.

This is Francis going up a hanger on the back of a rock - He's got to be worth our pick 7 surely.

Can someone please photoshop a sherrin in there for me and I'll make it my new Avatar.

We will be getting Parish at 3 and one of Wideman/Curnow at 7. Bookmark it.

So who are you certain is the other player the Bombers will take, to allow us to get Weideman or Curnow, if GC don't spoil the party.

One of Francis or Mathieson, Essendon simply don't get both Curnow & Wideman, one of them will fall to us at 7.

I would not be surprised if they recruit Burton at 7? Who might be the next Jake Springer

Have you seen him play live to suggest he is anything remotely close to stringer or just having a guess.

Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!

Are you not worried about Burtons preparation? Has he not played limited footy?

I'll assume you mean Stringer, and I'll also assume you say that only because you've read comparisons, and you fail to realise that is predicated solely on them both suffering a badly broken leg pre-draft.

When you look at that video you notice two things.

1) He makes great decisions very quickly.

2) He is sooooo clean with his hands. At at high speed. It's a really tough skill, but it buys you so much time.

Based off that footage he also seems to have great vision and an ability to move the ball laterally (with precision) which would help open up the play and our forward line, something we sorely lack.

Wasnt it more than a break He smashed the Tibia through the knee lucky to be walking

A no for me

I got a feeling we might pick Ryan Burton at 7.

I agree for the big midfielder

My worries are his injury and his return home factor as I recall

Viney, Brayshaw, Tyson, Salem, Petracca, Parish.

Just wanted to see what that looked like in black and white.

Just wanted to see what this looked like bolded in a quote tag.

Liking the Parish and McKay combination for picks 3 & 7. Mid/Fwd combo.

In his mock draft Brett Anderson has us taking Curnow and Collins with Parish going to Essendon.

Here you go, mate.

Personally i'd be taking Parish and whoever is left of Wielderman, Curnow or Francis at 7

but the idea of Wielderman at 3 and Collins at 7 is appealing the more i think about it.

sets up a spine for the next 10 years of

Collins

Mcdonald

Brayshaw

Hogan

Wielderman

Looks pretty handy to me.

The idea of a 'spine' is a bit outdated as a good centre is mitigated by the fact that there are so many mids now that go through there - the 'centre' position is used less and less.

And more on your point - setting up your talls is second only to setting up your midfield.

I say 'best available' but if there is a 'position' to shore up it is talent in the middle.

Nailed it.

Parish and Curnow.

Another exciting quinella in the league of Petracca and Brayshaw. And Hogan and Viney.

They're building a side here.

We have all the tall backs we need right now. I can see us using one pick on a tall forward, but the real need in our side right now is midfield class.

I respect your opinion there, i think a quality partner for Hogan is certainly a priority, doesn't have to come from pick 3 or 7 though,

i think Salem moves into the midfield next year so a good user off half back like young bonner might be handy, if Melksham doesn't make it i'm not sure what plan B is for that role.

Plan B would probably be to just put Salem back there

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
