How about Bugg for pick 50 and picks 6 and 29 to GC for pick 3 and no player back. We lose 160 points that we don't need and GC gain them. Still get the two players we want but no more steak knives.

Just to blow my own trumpet I wasn't far off on this, missed the next year first round leaving and getting pick 10 and 43 in return. Now for the GWS trade to go through.

“Importantly, the deal signed this morning was the original deal proposed with Gold Coast involving Jeremy Howe. We have just replaced the Howe to Gold Coast component with pick No.29 – the pick we received from Collingwood in the Howe trade.

Gotta love Demonland...

So, who are we trading 3 and 10 for?

I saw a post on one of the Melbourne FC supporter group pages on Facebook (yeah, yeah, I know), referring to a forward prospect from Wagga via Canberra named Harrison Hemmelberg. Does anyone know much about him and is he worth consideration by the club in that support role for Hogan?

http://www.canberratimes.com.au/afl/afl-news/harrison-himmelberg-steps-up-when-it-counts-most-to-enhance-afl-draft-hopes-20151012-gk6vvr.html

His running vertical jump of 333 centimetres was in the top 20 per cent of key forwards tested,

Wow! if he can jump 3.3 meters he will be a handful.

Good quote from Mahoney:

It is taken from the tip of your fingers to the ground, otherwise he would be trying out pole vault with little need for the pole.

Seriously, that's just plain dumb. 2016 is supposedly a much stronger draft, we are currently 15th or 16th in premiership betting, and we're prepared to risk giving up a top four pick. Is Parish really that good?

Potentially, IN picks 3, 10 and 43 in a weak draft; OUT pick 4 in a strong draft, 6 and 29 in a weak draft. How is that possibly a win for us?

I don't know what FMD means but it seems to be used a lot in this situation..

FMD!

Ignore him. We could have traded a third rounder for the first 5 picks in this draft and he would still complain.

Why doesn't that useless p*ick Mahoney do something?

Am I doing it right?

Yeah that Josh is out of his depth isn't he?

#halfbackflankers....

We have traded picks to trade for a player. We do not intend to take these picks to this years draft.

Wow - that is a big call if true!! Getting interesting.

Obviously that player is not a GC player, so no Prestia.

The plot thickens

Interesting, though that goes against what Mahoney just said...

Interesting deal.

Looks great on paper... unless we finish bottom 4 next year!

They're backing themselves in not to. Effectively we get 3 & 10 for 6. Two top 10 picks this year. For the now.

Posted

HOW DO WE GET PRESTIA WITHOUT A 1ST ROUNDER FOR NEXT YEAR

That's my question? Plus don't we already own pick 43?

Posted

Absolute ripper deal!

The pundits are saying that this is a weak draft.....beyond the top dozen. We now have 2 picks from the strong options.

We have to amass good talent today. Not next year or the year after.

As SWYL said...we have to start winning games!

And if we do start winning in 2016 the pick we have forgone next year won't be as valuable.

Agreed. It carries an air of confidence to me. I like it. I don't know a lot about the draft players but A) they've got their eye on someone in particular, or b) they've got a real quiet big trade on the side ready to go. Probably A.

43 gone to GC.

Sorry mo64, 43 comes in to us.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
