So Casboult is Alistair Lynch calibre?

Why didn't you say so?

Let's get him?

ND6 and Brayshaw should do it for such a talent.

nice one

The parallel was Hogan and Brown. Your inference was you had to have Hogan out of the square. I say bullshlt.

As do i to your poor attempt to evade the point.

Just show me where i said Casboult is Lynch .

I didn't infer it either. That you have . Really..thats the best straw you can find today ? lol

Im not for a moment commanding us to make a bee line for Levi.

But if he arrived and Dawes left id not be upset, nor ecstatic.

Your thinking is to leave Jesse up the sharp end. Mine isnt

We disagree.

You said that playing CHF 'worked for Jon Brown' in a dismissive way that was supposed to blow my point of keeping Hogan closer to goals - but it just served my point as he played in front of Lynch then Bradshaw then Fevola.

So getting Casboult to play there was what you were implying because that is what we are talking about but who really gives a rip.

And I never said 'Hogan out of the square' I said, Hogan 25 out with space around him.

You do that, and get 50 Inside 50s a game with our current forward line - Hogan will kick 70, Garlett 50, and the CHF will be a footnote, a role player. Hell, it could be Dawes...

I think in a 5 man forwardline, the FF-Power forward, would start in the goal-square roughly, then lead up field & double back, roaming for the ball. Creating space & banging bodies along the way.

...... the starting CHF would surely already have rushed through the square leaving open space behind him, acting as another big mid, ending up around defensive 50M ?

If Carlton are dumb enough to trade Casboult for Dawes that's good.

of course he is, of the old. But things have changed, the way the game has evolved so far. one tall forward up front, plus a resting follower ?

Sometime, someone will change it again. I've always been of the mibd you set up your attack to suit you, to play as you want to and it's up to the defence to negate you. So often i see sides setting up their offence ( fwd stricture ) as to defend against the opposition's defenders. All arze about for mine.

These day you don't really think in set positions like full forward and centre half forward.

It's more Power forward first option, and second and third tall in the forward line,,small crumbing and medium sized forwards who push into the midfield.

And which of Hogan, Dawes or Garlett will relieve Gawn in the ruck?

Oh, who do you think?

Unless a better option actually gets to the club - Dawes will have to go into the ruck for 6 minutes a qtr.

Boo hoo, Chris. Boo hoo.

I agree, it can change back again, & less rotations will slow things down a bit, but not enough to get back to a 6 man forwardline just yet. They will have to reduce the rotations more to get it back to 2004 levels.

lets hope they do.

for mine I want us to have hogan & wiedeman, plus a follower in the pocket. & Curnow RR/Flank.... i'm not asking for much. am I ?

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
