I hate bringing this up, but I was just listening to the pre-match discussions on Fox Footy. They interviewed Swans Assistant, Stuart Dew, and made the observation that he will one day make a very good Senior Coach. They went on to mention that he had missed out on the Carlton gig, but was still in the running for Essendon and Adelaide. Then Healy piped in with the fleeting comment that, depending on contract discussions at Melbourne, he could yet end up a Demon. What the hell was Healy referring to? ......... or did I completely mishear what Healy said? They were definitely talking about the role of senior coach. Someone please put my mind at ease. I need the sleep tonight!

Heard it aswell..

Too be honest I think he stuffed up and was meant to mention that he was in the running for the dees job couple of years ago.

Wouldn't read too much into it.

Didn't hear it, but are you sure he wasn't using the past tense? Something like, "Then Healy piped in with the fleeting comment that, depending on contract discussions at Melbourne, he could have end up a Demon."

I'm sure I got the gist and tense correct LDvC, but as others said, Healy may well have ballsed it up.

Or did he mean that if Goodwin is ineligible to coach because of the Essedrug affair outcome, then Dew could be a replacement? Or maybe Ive got that completely wrong as well?

he would have to be charged to be ineligible then wouldn't he?

Probably meant to say "He could have ended up a Demon." Was our first choice, but the Swans were unwilling to let him go. Nothing to see here.

SIMON Goodwin has come third in the AFLCA assistant coach of the year, behind St Kilda duo Adam Kingsley and Danny Sexton.

Appreciate the link but what does it all mean. Who decides the winner?

Clarko still can't win coach of the year.

Did Bruce Reid hand back his lifetime achievement award?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
