Tbh its a disgrace that north were able to rest their players.

They wanted to lose.

Feel sorry for tiges.

Hope sydney smash north.

Also - decisions like that not being holding the ball make me hate footy.

After watching the weekend neither of those sides today or Sydney have a hope of beating West Coast over there. In saying that the three most important traits I saw of the winning teams were they stuck more tackles, ran out quarters better and were cleaner when attacking forward of the defensive 50.

I'm not surprised by the result at all, I'd never felt more confident of a Melbourne win as I was against Richmond. If Garlett didn't drop a chest mark against North I think we would ave beaten them too.

Both teams are languishing in mediocrity, yes they are playing finals but neither have enough talent to be genuine contenders.

I'd kill for a bit of that CB. I dream of wallowing in mediocrity.

Tex Walker is a superstar, that summing up of the play and kick to Cameron for the winning goal was brilliant

Great leadership that play and the previous play as well, where he called every single Crow over to the defensive stoppage.

I would of said

- quick back movement

- tackling not carelling

- competitiveness

Absolutely! bottom line is their ladder position was not defined, so they had no business resting players, and should have been done hard for tanking.

The fact that Carlton used to have both Garlett and Betts, who kicked 98 between them this year, is hilarious

edit: can someone fill me in as to why Carlton got zero compo when Betts walked?

And what about Waite MM did a great job clearing the list

Just a tragic club leaderless?

Getting my money on Adelaide They are playing like they really really want it!

If they somehow get through to the grand final they will have a bit of crowd support.

Its an interesting one.

He can coach.

Players need to stop playing for frees.

Lids should captain.

I don't think he's a good coach 'Al'. I think he has always been a poor match day coach and I think the clubs decision (not sure of the weight of his input) to stay with a list that was taken apart by Port last year must be questioned.

I think his players will sink him in the end, a good guy but places too much faith in them. I know why they went after Trenners, they are still really short on leadership.

They did well to make the 8, I didn't think they had enough good players to get there.

That non-call HTB decision against North was horrible. It basically ended Richmond's game.

Oh well, they had their chances. I can't wait to see the pretenders get smashed by Heeney next week. Norf are the softest team in the competition, always resort to pathetic staging and diving antics.

Heeney has more talent than the entirety of Norf's list.

It was a game breaker...yes the Tiges didn't play well but that decision was a shocker. Can't wait for Campbell & co. to come out and justify it.

If Adelaide can beat Hawthorn next week they will have done their job. Think they will struggle with that one.

It's still Freo's to lose.

As faintly amusing as it was to see the Richmond bandwagon crash and burn (again), it's good to remember how well we beat them, and for that matter how we comprehensively outplayed Norf for a half and but for that lousy first quarter could have done them as well.

Norf are highly vulnerable if they are going to rely on Waite so much for their goals because he has shown many times reliability is not in his nature.

Really hoping Adelaide can do it on Friday. Hawks out in straight sets would make it a wonderful world.

You make a good point about their list but they were able to beat the Hawks, Freo(away) and Sydney(away and with a full list).

Having said that I don't rate some of their players, they continue to go missing.

Interesting to see what they do during trade week.

The club should do what we did to Grimes and remove the captaincy from him.

I think North will beat Sydney. Their defence has struggled with the big forwards this year. Whilst Petrie/Brown/Waite aren't in the same touch as Kennedy I think if they get the ball in their enough they will do the job.

Hmmm..wonder what odds I can get for an all WA gf ?

To be honest I don't care who wins as long as it is not Sydney.

Reid into this what you will but I think theres no Buddy way in hell now they can get up !! :)

Carlton players are dominating everywhere except at Carlton. Mitch Robinson ties for b&f at Brisbane, Eddie Betts and Waite dominating finals and Garlett was a revelation in our forward line. Buckley has come in and cleaned out the "rat pack" MM had much success with at Collingwood and MM goes to Carlton and gets rid of the same brilliant but troubled type of player he has previously had success with.

They missed a few imo

Can anyone give me a good reason why if you're tackled and the ball hits the ground without getting a hand pass or kick to it, it's not incorrect disposal, dropping the ball, whatever, EVERY TIME. It's so obvious and could easily be at the top of the KISS Afl list of on-field rules. If Richard Branson was asked after a game which rules he understood I think he'd be able to master that one.

Not in the slightest disappointed Richmond lost btw.

I think the top 4 will still be the top 4 after this week 'Al'...

North seem to like their own work too much, will still be basking in their own glory when Sydney get down and dirty.

I live in Perth and all I'm hearing is how good the WA side are. It's making me feel ill!!

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
