I was there last night and would encourage everyone to watch the speeches of Daisy Pearce and Peter Jackson when they go up on the website. They were both fantastic and the clear standouts on the night.

Agree fully. Daisy was so well composed, prepared, confident and even inspiring. She was the first player / award winner I went to afterwards to get a photo with.

Also love the fact that she wears 31, a favourite number of mine. I got a photo with RDB as well.

Time for my weekly whine about whichever amateurs are running the MFC website

Its almost 5 PM the day after the B and F and all the only media they have on there is the Daisy Pearce speech........ surely they are taking the [censored].

The end of a long season where they'll work 9-5 on weekdays and a day on most weekends...

You can't wait a day or 2 while they let their hair down with the rest of the club?

Selfish and ignorant point of view, really.

I imagine it would be to make sure people watch what was a bloody excellent speech you complete moron.

Other than Burgo's single shirt choice, the media wing of the MFC have done an excellent job this year.

It seems somewhat odd that we have a B&F Award voted by the Coaches and then a separate award called the Coaches Award. However, it does provide an opportunity to reward a player who may not get enough votes to win the main prize because of injury. So, does anyone know whether the Coaches Award is a subjective award or whether it is formally calculated by taking the B&F totals and dividing by the number of games played? Either way, Viney is a worthy winner, but I'm just curious about the mechanism.

I've just started watching the speeches, started with Daisy. We couldn't have picked a better person so be the inaugural winner of a Female B&F at an AFL club. She spoke so well, and she clearly is proud to wear the Red and Blue. It actually gave me goosebumps to hear her talk about how we have been the pioneers of the game and now we have pioneered bringing the women's game into the fore.

Congrats Daisy, you deserve it and you're a sensational ambassador for women in footy.

"At the completion of each game, four members of the match committee rate the players performance from 0-10. The votes are then added together and the total is the votes awarded for that game. As such, a player can score between 0-40 votes per game."

My take: If an average of 20 for the season is a 'pass', only Viney 'passed'. Really shows what the match committee thought of the year.

Hopefully, next year we see the top 8-10 players in the B & F get an average of 20-30 votes per game.

Is that too ambitious?

We will then have a core of B grade players a few A-grade.

That is how I read it.

It is possible HL (for example) had several BOG but a lot of 0/40.

But a BOG may not get 40/40

Maybe we have harsh markers.

But the votes show all players have been a long way from coaches' expectations.
