MoonShadow this is Red Fox. Please urgently move away from the Trade Table ...

Ok, how about our first, second and third rounder for Bugg? Too much?

Gws would probably command a second rounder for him, which has already been rumoured to go to every other club as part of every other rumoured deal.

If Howe heads out without a swap of picks, and Toumpas for Melksham happens, a second rounder for Bugg is likely.

Ralph adding Bugg to the list we are interested in and I've heard it is reasonable info.

I'm not a huge fan but he's another in the 'better than Matt Jones or Terlich column'.

Brings some hardness and could play lock down small defender, tagger or defensive forward.

At the moment we have

Jetta who plays the role of lock down defender. His disposal is average. He does play his role well minimising the impact opposition smalls have.

We have Grimes who many class as a mid size defender. He can't play midfield. His disposal has improved to become average with the occasional trademark brain fade.

Then we have Salem and 3 talls. Tmac/Dunn/Garland(Maybe next year Garland out for Frost).

Once we have real depth on the list and more talented players our back six should be 3 talls and 3 mids. That gives us gear flexibility and we become a very dangerous side.

We only need to look at the Hawks and Geelong to see how effective this is.

the Jet has the ability to play thru the guts. inside. now he is developing self belief.

Another player I'm not excited by.

If you think we're going to improve by poaching top 10 players from top 8 clubs, then you're going to be disappointed.

So now you know how I think ?

His Manager says:

MFC want inside players that are also competitors.

We also want someone who can play forward, back middle...the typical 'on-baller'.

Bugg ticks all those boxes.

We are really in the frame and Thomas wants to come back to Vic.

No other clubs mentioned so he may well be a Dee!

If he ticks all the boxes he should be a walk up start in our 22.

Having watched him play, he's not someone who sets the world on fire.

But the whole idea behind bringing in these types of players at our club is that competition for spots becomes hotter and generally higher standards are set whether that be on game day or at training and that's nothing but a good thing. We're starting to bridge the gap now between our starting 22 and then 'the rest'.

One day we'll stop having to find so many of these types of players and we'd hopefully be able to attract some house-hold names.

But clearly we're not in a position to do that.

So let's just be happy that we're refreshing the list with new faces, upgraded depth and a new energy brought to the club by these types of players.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
