Round 21 (Non MFC Games)

I thought he was staging too but the replay showed he copped high contact from the legs of a StKilda player running past. Wasn't much in it but the umpiring in recent weeks is all over the shop.

and they want to dilute what little talent they have by having four of them on the field. Eventually they will want 20, one for each pair of players.

What a great round it has been to date. I don't know what gave me the most pleasure: seeing the Pies get pole axed by the Tiges by 91 points or seeking Essendon fall by 2 points to the Suns!

They're equally amusing in unequal ways. Both gave me much happiness though.

Saints ruining Geelong's finals chances would've been the trifecta of perfection though.

Would be a complete injustice if Geelong made finals over Adelaide. Sadly, looking at the draw, it seems more likely than not that Geelong will make it. For Adelaide to win, they need to either 1) beat West Coast next week or 2) beat Geelong at Skilled. Neither are an easy feat.

The only alternative was Geelong losing tonight, which would've ended their season. OR Geelong losing next week to Collingwood, which appears highly unlikely. Damn.

Given their patchy form I think Geelong could easily lose one in the last two rounds. Then again North aren't entirely safe in the 8, appears unlikely but still they have 3 tough opponents to face

As amusing as it was, err.. how exactly did he get a kids-sized umpire uniform unless it was a blatantly pre-arranged, AFL-endorsed placement?

Arent they on sale for $110.00, then there's the away top, heritage round.....

I'm really hoping that Adelaide wins that Round 23 game v Geelong which would make the fact that their earlier game was cancelled totally irrelevant as far as the makeup of the final eight is concerned.

I also would like us to win today to go ahead of St. Kilda on the ladder and stay that way. The commentariat are speaking of St. Kilda almost in tones of this being a breakout year and how brilliant their future will be with all their young players. Sure, they're doing well and they have some good kids but they are doing it off the back of a solid core of veterans like Riewoldt and Fisher (10 marks each last night), Gilbert, Montagna etc who will all have to be replaced very soon. They are not in fact a very young side at all.

They'll definitely still lose.* North are hopeless; half their team need walking frames just to finish training.

(*trying to jinx them)

Felt they were lucky to beat us. Big mistake by them thinking they were in a Premiership window (whatever that means).

    GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Brisbane

It's Game Day and the Dees are deep in the heart of enemy territory as they take on the Lions in Brisbane under the Friday Night Lights at the Gabba. Will the Demon finally be awakened and the season get back on track or will they meekly be sacrificed like lambs to the slaughter?

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.
