I'm with you FireIn. Nev was back to his courageous and reliable best today.

he'd been crunched badly in the first few games too.

So resillient and great to see him bouncing back.

I know we've disagreed on some issues but spot on.

Great game from the great man today.

I just love him to bits. Such a fighter and a class act!

Always gives a consistent effort, regardless of form.

He's come a long way. Of all the players of the really bad times, you wouldn't necessarily have expected that he'd be one of the survivors. But he ended up out-lasting some much more skilled players just through his tenacity.

Loved his attack on the ball and the player. Gaining more confidence each week.

Very rarely post but an avid reader of the forum. Nev’s Game today was reminiscent of the great Gavin Wanganeen, won the ball in the air, on the ground contest after contest. Quite simply watching him today was like watching a virtuoso performance of a master at the absolute top of his game. A must for All Australian.

Just finished watching the Jarrah ( SIGH) highlights and there was Nev, playing as a forward. There was Mr Jones, Mr Watts, but the guy who caught my eye - apart fro Jarrah ( SIGH) is nev. Love the guy so much.

He was so easily our best player that it wasn't funny today. Nev's game today was 3 votes. He was simply magnificent.

BOG today. After a slow start to the season, he's worked into ripping form and will surely be All Australian this year. What a brilliant small defender he's been the past few years!

Best back pocket in the game

You (the Royal we) need to listen to the “Inside Melbourne” podcast from May 24. “Steady as she goes” Neville is the guest and a really good listen.

He could have been lost to the Dees and AFL footy... today he was the star of the show. Why a gun.

As much as I said I wouldn't, you've got me wanting to watch those highlights. Where Jetta has come from is as much a reason to be amazed as how good he plays as a defender these days.

After Lever went off, he took on his role. And played his own. Almighty effort.

Was amazing today.  Thank you to those that threw him the rookie lifeline

:roos:

Roos watched Jetta play in last few games of 2013.  And, as they say in the classics:  the rest is history.

Just hope we sign Nev up asap.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?

  • FEATURE: 1925

A hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the “Fuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.
