Yep DA ..nothing much to get excited about there . Bombers unlucky not to have that goal awarded. Dees need to get going

Derm called it well, the dees forwards are all flying for a wet ball and spoiling each other.. Stupid football really (seperate and hold your defender away or at least hold your feet)! Poor 1st quarter so far. Hopefully we play better than a vfl team next quarter

How to beat Roos:

Step 1) Put a loose player in defence.

Step 2) Win.

You'd think we'd learned from the Collingwood game. Even before the match the 3AW commentators were reminding Roos about how easily Oxley cut us up. What the actual frack is going on?

Posted

No real Desire to win there. They seem to be getting behind the ball so every time we go forward they have men back. Dawes and Hogan don't look like marking anything.

Need to come out 2nd qrt with aggression - run and spread!

We've been poor with our entries inside fifty.

Have to give credit to Essendon their plans are working, much like the NAB cup game.

Players behind the ball. Frustrate our entries though long bombs.

Howe, Dawes and Hogan need to separate, all jumping at the same ball allowing Steinberg and Gwilt to drop off.

Big test for Roos right here right now. Coaching points to Hird clearly ATM.

Barring injury need JHK to replace a tall when subbed.

Posted (edited)

They'll give it another quarter and see if we're still too tall in our forward line. Clearly what we're doing now isn't working in these conditions, so pull the sub trigger with Dawes for JKH at halftime.

Howe, Dawes and Hogan all going up in the same marking contest is as dumb as it gets when they have a spare behind the ball.

Viney needs to seriously work on his kicking

yeah i thought...Gus has ball..ok.. Viney has it....wtf

No working structure in the forward half whatsoever. What the hell is ANB trying to take a screamer for every time the ball comes in? He's an extra in the contest which means that they have an extra at ground level. We are playing right into their hands.

totally agree...dumb footy atm....need to divide to conquer

On a side note, I cant handle seeing Howe out there.

Continues to not care to do the hard stuff.

His man is having a huge influence clogging up Hogan's space.

Wish Roos was tougher sometimes.

3 possessions between Hogan and Dawes. WTF

If going by the afl stats, a lot of players aren't seeing much of the pill (both sides), it's just that their major ball-winners are getting it a lot more than ours.

We're definitely playing to their gameplan atm.

Great play Dawsey

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
