Post Match Discussion - Round 12 (never in doubt)

Not sure I believe that, Selwood has mentioned in the past he respects Jonesy and they played Under 18s together for Vic - same draft class.

Sometimes a sledge can just be a sledge, doesn't have to be a legitimate personal attack.

There's a good story about Joel sledging brother Scott with "my dad slept with your mum"

Yeah I mean, he may have said it in the heat of battle. Not once the sirens gone though, and thats the vibe I was getting for some reason

For anyone that remembers last year Selwood and a couple of senior players got into Viney after the game after they shook hands. There was something during that game got into Jack after that game.

Fair to say now for Viney that Selwood is his little [censored] now..

Hahaha joel selwood got shown what toughness looks like by a 38 game player, absolutely humiliated on his home deck infront of his home crowd on his mates 300th game, he'd better not have been low enough to say that too

The best win since an injury ravaged Demons won against the odds against West Coast at Subiaco in 1998.

I've been rapt with Watts' last 3 weeks. He's been so composed in traffic and under pressure it's been stark and for me almost unbelievable. He's still made the odd mistake, but everyone does.

It's just so wonderful for the whole week when your team wins. Well done all.

I have found Watts' last few weeks most interesting. It is like he has been taught to take his time and back himself in. On so many occasions he has shown great composure in traffic, or even in a tackle, it has been great to see.

why was Toumpas subbed ?

did we have any injuries ?

Had to sub someone. Liked the Toump today but thought all of ANB, Stretch and MJones were better. Bail the only other candidate really.

No injuries reported that I'm aware of.

I think there's maybe been better since, but that win was almost a carbon copy of this weekend.

Decimated by injuries, written off by all, hoodoo team on a cursed ground.

Four wins to the Bye with the draw we've had is good.

A further half dozen on the way home would not be unreasonable.

His quick thinking also great. Fantastic pass to Garlett under pressure. 'He hit it in hope' ... no.

Surely this is crap.

Firstly, how would anyone other than a player hear this, secondly, Selwood and Nate Jones are mates.

Rivers just tweeted same!

Actually, for a moment half way through the quarter I could have sworn he WAS playing for us. Send Matt Jones a great handpass that resulted in one of Matty's goals. Pure gold...!!!

Thirdly, even if it were true, who cares? It's just a sledge. I'm sure Jonesy is crying himself to sleep over it right now.

Selwood an absolute champion, a bit churlish sledging him.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
