AFL Round 12 - Non MFC Games

Commentators salivating over NicNat. Sure, he hit about a dozen to advantage and was gifted 2 goals by the umps, but similarly, he took ZERO marks and had 12 disposals. Hmmmm........

He was probably the most influential player in the game tonight though 'Moon'. I think he gets a lot of undeserved wraps but he was good, his tackling pressure and the way he hit the contest really provided WC with a launching pad for the win.

When he was on ball WC were well on top, when he rested the Tiges came back.

Still don't rate the Tiges...still can't see them making the 8.

All jokes aside

- p#ss poor leadership, gave away a stupid free, plays for frees

- lots of simple skill errors

- jury still out on Vickery

- players dropping their knees/winning the ball in traffic and remaining low in a bid to receive high contact.....led by their captain.

To their credit they didn't go backwards/sideways and continued to attack but outclassed.

Eagerly awaiting their rematch with Freo later in the year.

But yeah, don't rate them.

Not joking 'Al', I don't rate the Tiges...the only real win they've had is the Freo game and they got them after a winner take all game against Adelaide with Freo due a loss if there is such a thing (and I believe there is).

Still reckon West Coast will be way up there this September.

Their defence is not strong enough for them to do damage in September, they leaked too many easy goals tonight that kept the Tiges in it for a lot of the game.

If they have a bit more luck with injury they will give it a good shake next year.

Spot on, I agree. Just plays for frees.

Swallow is hard at it - but a sook. A lot of North's players are sooky... Petrie, Harvey, Swallow. It must be ingrained in their culture.

The North culture is definitely sooky. Always looking for blame, always putting in Oscar-worthy performances. All influenced by their diva of a coach.

After the laughable discussion about the Tigers eyeing off top 4 after beating Freo, I was the only voice of dissent amongst my friends saying it was more likely a fluke.

Lo and behold Freo nearly lost a week later to Gold Coast, and tonight's result reiterated that the Tigers' victory two weeks ago had far more to do with Fremantle hitting a slump than Richmond finding form.

I wasn't having a go RJay, I'm in total agreeance. I put North in the same boat as Richmond. Promise so much but deliver very little. Should either of those sides not make finals or get bundled straight out their coach will/should be feeling the heat and sacked. I've got a feeling Woosha has been offered a job somewhere.

Whatching NicNat tap work last night makes me realise how important it is to have a good ruckman

NicNat was taping to an Eagle player and if wasn't to a player it was in there favour.

Gawn won a lot of the taps last week but a lot of the time is wasn't to a demons player or to our favour.

Gawn won a lot of the taps last week but a lot of the time is wasn't to a demons player or to our favour.

Yet we won the clearances and had 108 possessions more than St. Kilda. You can't blame our ruck work for the loss apart from the last bounce when Gawn's tap went into the open and was swooped on by Jacky instead of being buried at the foot of the pack.

The thing I liked about watching last night's game was Dustin Martin. Three goals and over thirty touches wasn't enough to get Richmond across the line but having a human dynamo like him in your team doesn't hurt. It certainly whets the appetite for the day when one Christian Petracca finally steps onto the field wearing the red and blue.

As fast as Port climbed the ladder they're falling back down it. They're 5-7 and if Geelong beat us they'll be 2 games and a bit of percentage behind. And they've got Sydney in Sydney after the bye, plus games to come against Collingwood, Hawthorn (away) and Fremantle. Put those four down as losses and even if they win the rest they won't get to 12 wins. No one would have fathomed them missing the finals this year.

Mind you, that decision to take that last mark off Port might be a talking point this week.

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
