I actually chuckled a few times at how he just went after the ball, bulldozing through multiple Crows players and they couldn't do a thing about it.  He decided he wanted the footy so he just went in and got it in a sea of players.

Like he just said  '[censored] it, I may as well hit top form second game back from a long layoff'.

There was a moment in the 3rd or 4th when Viney jumped on a loose ball and there were 4 Crows players surrounding, all within equal distance of Jack but they all stood back as if telepathically signaling to each other “nah.. you go in”

Ha!

He's definitely our most explosive midfielder. He showed that today. He just bullies opposition. His strength to get himself free from congestion is remarkable. He can only make the game easier for Oliver too. Boy oh Boy our midfield is good.

Viney, Oliver, Brayshaw, Jones, Petracca etc.

Maybe I’m imagining it but does Viney look like he’s faster over the ground than previous years?

After the commentators had drooled over the size of Fogarty for the whole first half, to see Viney literally throw him off after picking the ball up was GLORIOUS. Somebody GIF it for me, pretty please!!!

His intensity is just b*llshit. Opposition players are legitimately scared of him! Not only was his intensity back today, so we his agility and burst pace. His sidestepping is top shelf, and if it doesn't work he just bulldozes through them anyway! So great to have him back out there.

Gawn, Viney, Oliver, Jones/Brayshaw is currently the best centre square midfield in the league.

Seems to magically appear when there's abit of niggle.
Doesn't matter who's involved.
Just loves it.

Never thought I would be saying this but I reckon Harmes has earned a place on that list.

He's been building, and building his tank.  same with ANB.

Add some form into the team, and they all start to shine.

We are up and away atmo.

Some of the guys looked like tiring late in the 2nd Qtr; physically feeling the heat, and some mental errors later on after half time, from some experienced players from fatigue, including TMc.

I have to see out the game yet.  But it was a very good clinical win.  And the crows didn't show up, or we dindn't let them.  Our intensity was very good.

A danger game coming up against a struggling side that we should beat, and will be expected to beat.   That makes it a danger game, because of our recent mental attitudes in these type games.

What like our mental attitude we had against gold coast and the blues, and essendon and the saints.

Agreed. He's now gone past others on our list and has been a beneficiary of the general increase in standards across the board of performances over the past month

Played all last year with injuries. The plantar fasciitis was hurting him from the early rounds all the way through to the surgery, and then he came back underdone from that. He wasn't healthy at any stage last season.

Hopefully he can get back to 2016 form and even more.

He also seems to have the best combination with Gawn, somehow with Harmes the other midfielder who reads Gawn well.

I always seem to notice Gawn literally putting it down Jones' throat. And then there is Oliver and Brayshaw

When Viney came back into the side his team mates grew in confidence. They have that extra spring in their step. As we  see the last 2 games, it is so noticeable  Gawny grew an extra 10 cm.  We can only be better with him in the side. Welcome back Champ.

Yes, I'd reckon that is the case and was thinking that with a few of his anti-Crows breakaways during the game. Seems like the layoff that he has endured brought on some other forms of training that assisted running speeds and faster take-offs in a straight line for the ball - watch out, Doggies, the Filth and others, he's on a mission to take this train to the end of the line - a premiership.

aside from the last 4 that we have won... there is history, and there is recent history. chin up , they'll prepare accordingly for it

Gawn wins a lot of hit outs to advantage, so any midfielder playing with him is going to get the ball, but Viney and Harmes are the two I've noticed far more than others who nail the timing and get the ball straight from the tap on the run bursting to goal. Harmes kicked a goal earlier in the year from a hit out that was beautiful to watch.

All of the mids have improved their work with Gawn massively since the Hawthorn and Richmond games which were disasters in that regard.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
