Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

2015 apparent out of contract players merged with targets at seasons end

Classy mid with good skills. Played his juniors as a forward.

Highly rated by Port, but has been kept out due to injuries.

I would throw our second rounder at him in a heart beat.

He wouldn't be a bad get. I wanted him last year.

189cm 88kg inside midfielder who was a melbourne supporter growing up. He would be in our best 22 every week.

This should in part be merged with the 2015 contracts thread. I keep reading throw big $$$$ at player x. We currently have about 6-7 players tied up until the end of 2016 who aren't AFL standard, and some of them our biggest earners. From memory only 1 maybe 2 was Roos doing. Problem is you can only move on 11 per year, and sadly I thought those days we're behind us. But reality is our list is a mess. Again, I hope their contracts were front loaded, if that's the case we might be able to pull a rabbit out of the hat. A handful of injuries and our list is exposed. Thankfully Hogan is signed up until 2017, otherwise we'd be screwed. A question I asked the other day, (this was based on hearing about Roos/Longmire looking at potential draftees) how many on our list fill these two criteria 1- natural competitor 2- can use the footy? I'd say less than half the list. But how many fall under promising junior(possibly developed wrong)/great clubman/great speaker/nice bloke......

It's time to cut the crap. If they can't kick the ball under Roos/Goodwin/McCartney they never will be able to. Just a thought, who'd take Dawes if offered up? The lions? Would anyone? The whole "premiership player/leadership tag" has worn thin. These are the kind of things I hope the club looks into come years end. I wish Frost didn't get injured. The possible Trengove trade showed the realisation that we need to become ruthless. There are a couple of similar decisions pending at years end. I can only hope that these ones go through.

I'd add to that we had the luxury of clubs thinking that player x was actually a good player but we couldn't develop him ie Sylvia. But with our current coaching panel we no longer have that meaning trade values are at rock bottom.

I really hate this tag as it means virtually nothing once they are in the system, and i'm not picking on you DD as it is used voraciously by many on here. So many great players currently playing supported the MFC growing up such as Buddy and Pendlebury, but they wouldn't even poop on us now or when they were younger, so i find this "supported the mfc growing up" term to be so irrelevant in trade prospects. But you know what isn't irrelevant when trading? Competitiveness, progress, success and money. Throw/show those things to players and they will come bounding to the door. At the moment we can only show one: money.

He dated someone I know. That's all I'll say.

mate, they are AFL players. Most have dated/conquered the majority of solid look girls in their area, and some of the ugly ones.

Your friend didn't get a call back, big whoopy!

But still Vickery is like Aish to me. A player to similar to Watts (Vickery) and Toumpas (Aish). Leave 'em alone and let them be someone else's problem.

If Pederson and Watts do alright in Hogan's forward line without Dawes, dangle ol' brick hands up to Bris for Aish. The value for a big forward to them becomes greater than ours if it turns out Dawes isn't required, and with Frost another prospect to test before years end assuming this toe doesn't drag on Hogan back style. Could net us another Mid in Aish, albeit with question marks, without diminishing our other trade stocks to go hard for proven guns.

Definately like the sound of getting a midfielder for Dawes, but Aish is not the one we want.

That's not what happened actually. I'm not going to post what happened on a public forum though.

To get someone of the calibre of Shiel or even Kelly, GWS would want Tom McDonald.

Tall defenders are the only weakness in their list.

The new franchises have too much top talent to pay overs for one player. Shiel is worth it and they may deem that, however, if he wants to come home, there's not much they can do, but try and deal with someone. That's the power players wield these days.

Carlton and Melbourne will be best placed to deal with them (read, have the best picks to give GWS). And not that it matters much, but Shiel did support Carlton as a youngster.

And actually expressed a desire/hope to be recruited by the Demons during the Bailey years.

Not if they said no it wouldn't lol

Good point! :)

Could we afford that with the current dead wood on the list?

Reckon we could. Clark salary now free, Dawes only has 1 year on his conract left, I'd assume Trenners will get a reduced 1 year deal. Trade Watts, Howe & Grimes out and I'd expect us to have a fair bit of cash available.

If that scenario were to happen that would be bloody sensational. I think a couple of players could do with a fresh start and both player and club would benefit.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
