We aren't going to land shiel without offering him the mother of all contracts and there is no guarentee that even if he agreed to come to us that Jeremy Howe and or first pick would be enough, I think we'd be better off trying to get a couple of blokes from the next Teir down and developing that superstar from within

the problem is we go after players when they have already blossomed... instead of getting them when they are into their careers, but a bit home sick... early on.

look back at Boak, Danger, & others... we could have shown real interest & zest for them about 5 yrs back, when they were homesick, but lucky for them we didn't, at that time.

now we are in better hands managing the list, we should be into trades heavily for talent wanting to come home.

I'd much rather a tested budding talent that essentially saves us a couple of years development, and has exposed form but is not yet the finished article.

alex rance's moves could impact everything. he stays with the tiggas, he goes on holidays for a year, he walks from the tiggas - all could have massive impact on other trading options. richmond will be screaming bloody murder if they lose him as we lost chip, simply as he wasn't in the top 10 paid players in his out-of-contract year.

the big difference is that we planned for chip to go. richmond's defence is built around rance.

Sure he is more proven at CHB than as a KPF, but he would be better than Dawes playing forward. No harm in having a quality swing man either.

I'd see Tomlinson as more gettable though, even though he is smaller. He'd be easier to complete a successful trade too, as Essendrug are notorious to deal with.
