King not even starting in the ruck in the twos.

He is a developing player, they are trying to build his body, as most ruckman have to play forward these days, getting him to do that as well, he enjoys it, never misses a set shot, has a great natural leap, he is probably another year away from having the size to compete in the ruck in the seniors in the VFL

We are just seeing Spencer emerge at 25. Very few rucks can do a Brodie Grundy and have an immediate impact.

I would hate to see us give up too early on him - not many rucks can kick like him. When he develops a body he could be a real weapon up forward.

I thought we recruited King as a forward, like Daniher, who may in time be able to do a bit of ruckwork. When he fills out he will be a big lad and we know he has some ability.

This new regime will develop players the right way and give them every chance to make it, rather than destroying them before they are ready.

I am actually surprised that Billy has got his first game this early in the season. I wish him luck.

Nah ruck Redleg, but then they realised he is very good as a forward, when the rucks work at training, he is getting stronger, doesn't get thrown aside as often now

As for Harmes, we won't have to trade or draft a big bodied midfielder if we have spent two years building one from scratch, he is going to be a player, as long as he sticks to what he is doing now

My recruiting mate (for another club) rated Harmes highly at draft time. He saw something in him. I've hoped he would progress.

...but they didn't take him and he went as a rookie.

I recall Max King playing NAB Cup two season ago and kicking a nice goal from general play, might've been vs Richmond at Etihad.

He has some skills (unless it wasnt Mas King or Im imagining things)

Another reckon Harmes is a chance to get a run in the seniors this year?

must admit i don't know much about him

Same, I also dont know anything about Jayden Hunt and hes actually on our senior list.

Would be nice if one or both boys became players

That would be good.

Good timing for me with the live game on today. I play footy tomorrow so its fitted in perfectly for me.

I am excited to see the likes of Oscar Mcdonald and Alex Neal-bullen play today! Hope ANB plays an absolute blinder today. More pressure on our midfield spots.

Also looking forward to seeing how Jamar and Grimes respond.

It will be hard to tell them apart on the field as they are a similar size. Twins almost!

Profiles on mfc website.

Going on game reports Harmes is progressing faster atmo but that could be because Hunt has been out with back problems. Wouldn't be surprised to see Harmes elevated to seniors before too long (Jack T could go onto LTI list to make room).

It would be great if Hunt came on given we need his speed in the team. I read that he played school football with Salem.

You might get your wish sydneydee http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2015-05-08/hunt-aims-for-versatility in which Hunt says: “The coaches see me as quite a versatile player and more of an outside player, so I can try and use my speed on the outside and my kicking skills,” He goes on to say he has been working with Miller and Rawlings so he is developing his defensive skills as he goes.

Think you are right about school footy with Salem. Story goes that Roos and co went to Brighton Grammar to watch Josh Kelly play and were impressed by both Salem and Hunt. We passed on Kelly at pick 2, traded it and got Tyson and Salem. Hunt was a later pick.

It would be fair to say that if Toumpas doesn't start performing soon Hunt may overtake him. I'm hoping both becoming permanent 22.

No it wouldn't be fair to say that because that is a ridiculous statement.

Hunt is light years away from senior football that i would expect him to play senior footy this year at all. He has missed 12 months of football and even when he was in the Casey 1s he was struggling.

I didn't say this year dd36 nor did I say overtake Toumpas in the seniors. Toumpas has played 19 games. They are both VFL level players atmo with past extended periods of injury. They are both skillful outside players.

In time, the choice may come down to how many speedy outside players can a team have. I hope there is room for both but there is pressure on Toumpas to start performing or the club may back Hunt as the one for a future in the seniors.

Hunt was named in the Casey Development League side today. It'll be his first competitive game in over a year. I'll find out a little more about him from my golfing partner tomorrow. Pretty sure PR was grooming him for the HBF pre-season because of his pace and kick (quite reasonable). He tweaked his back around Feb so there's been no contact stuff.

If his back goes again or he doesn't get up to speed pretty quickly it's safe to say he'll be de-listed at seasons end.

Wanted to get some stuff done today but it is hard when both our VFL game and AFL game are on Channel 7

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
