Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I really think he is suffering because of three major things.

1. the weight of expectation is getting to him, he had a huge deal on the table from the MFC, and he decided to put talks on hold for now, that carries some risk that if his form drops away sharply the offer may not be the same when he re-opens talks  ( for me he's going okay at the moment though )

2. he is not understanding that just because he is talented beyond belief that it's going to be his hard work that gets him through the moments where it's not going all his way, not his talent, this is something Macca was talking to him about at training last week, " if it's not going all your way, which happens to every player, simplify things, don't worry about goals just set yourself the goal of doing 1 or 2 things really well, like don't be outmarked and get to as many contests as you can"

3. i think we have one to many talls down there and it's crowding the forward line! i personally think Watts is good enough on currant form to be the second big and allow us to play an extra small/medium forward

Just how important a part of our coaching panel is Macca?  Very underrated I suspect.

Before I comment, I freely admit that I am no AFL playing expert.  However, 2 things struck me early in the game on Saturday.  JH was double teamed mostly and mauled by the opposition. Davis was into him even before the first bounce - fair enough.  But, in the first quarter alone he deserved at least 2 frees in the forward 50.  Nope, Sweeney Todd (Razor Ray and his cohorts) would have none of it.  Second, it amazed me that there were no crumbers at his feet. Contrast that with the Geelong 'smalls' hovering around Hawkins and Dixon yesterday.

To me what mattered most, was when the coach asked for a greater effort in the last quarter, it was Jesse who was one of the ones who put his hand up.  That shows something about the "kid".

The 'kid' is already a champion (In the making). But the main point is that he is still young and maturing. He is a competitive beast that doesn't like losing and until he matures in time we will see him wearing his heart on his sleeve.

He is not above learning the things required of him in all aspects of the game but this too will come in good time.

Just sit back, relax and watch the kid grow and mature into one of the best players we will see in our lifetime.

Compare him to any of the past champions at the same stage of their careers.

Having said that I have edited for accuracy.

I understand your sentiment DM and I want him to be a champion player for the Melbourne FC too. For starters, I just bought my daughter a Jesse Hogan badge with a view to it being relevant in 2018. However, a fair bit can go wrong and I don't subscribe to the early age comparisons (in terms of them being gospel like)

Agreed. Hence the edit for accuracy.

Apparently Karl Langdon said on 6PR last night he is a lock to come back to WA and it is just a question of the end of this year or next.

Langdon is a nut.  I wouldn't put any credence in the drivel that spews forth from his mouth.

I also strongly believe he is gone. Anyone who couldnt pick up the awkward, quiet tone in his voice during that line of questioning the other week is just in denial. Nevertheless,  i will enjoy the games he has left for us. We will be well compensated and hopefully the Weed comes on as expected.

It comes as no surprise that, when I saw you had replied in this thread, that this was the exact opinion you would take Munga.

Keep on trolling, son.

An opinion that doesnt fit what we all hope for is not trolling. It just shows how much posters dont want to hear the potentially ugly reality that it is called trolling. i hope he stays but my opinion is he wont.

On the Scully score Jesse is coming up a zero. Langdon obviously wasn't one of the 28,000 there to witness his celebrations at the siren on Saturday. He is invested in this club.

talk about confirmation bias. of course he was pumped. AFL players are competitors. they want to win on any given day.

I'll believe Hogan's gone when he's standing at a press conference in his Freo trackies.  Until then I'll give him the benefit of the considerable doubt and assume he's staying, enjoy watching his rise, and tune out from the blowhards like Langdon who always chuck this kind of carp out there to try and remain relevant.

Did you see his celebration on the weekend when the siren went?  And after AVB kicked that important goal?

Hogans going nowhere. he loves the MFC.

And Karl Langdon is a [censored] of the highest order. He brings new meaning to the word 'clueless'.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
