Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The Incredible Hulk - Jesse Hogan

CC doing a good job of raising interest in what's predicted to be a one-sided game, raised interest equals more attending equals more $$$ to MFC. I've got no problem with him stirring it up a bit...

Jessie would've learnt a lot playing on McFarlane. Good to see him travelling up the ground to get involved when we were struggling with inside 50's.

I agree, Jesse will be the better for it. It's a shame he has to take the best defender each week, plus having Freo dropping a player back in front of him. Jesse is a winner.

This should be music to all our ears: "Hogan, 20, is not out of contract until 2017, but the Demons are likely to move next year to re-sign the West Australian, with the West Coast Eagles and Fremantle expected to pitch major offers to lure him home."

Read the story here: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/demons-wary-of-making-hogan-a-young-hero-says-chief-20150506-ggvmll.html

Great to see the club will be on the front foot to sign up Jesse.

yup, we need to.

The good thing though is that if he was to be "poached", he must be traded and sadly if he did go we would want to receive massive trades for him.

Sign him for 10 years, $15 million and move all his family friends extended family to Melbourne

An excellent idea! Does he have any brothers?

After the Boyd deal you'd think a long-term, high 6 figure sum could comfortably be on the table from the club. He could end up our highest paid player within a few years.

Though I can just as easily see Hogan's management agreeing to a 3 year extension which will take him through to free agency (assuming the AFLPA get their way and reduce the minimum years of service to 6/7 years.)

Does Hogan's first year in the VFL count as one year towards his FA eligibility? If not, his current contract commitment takes him to 4 years.

7 years at 1.2 mil a year, set him up for life financially, he knows we've invested a ton In him so I'm sure he wants to see this through

Guarantee that is the sort of offer another side will make if we don't.

This kid is that good!

His versatility and competitiveness is where he is better than others like Boyd and Patton, his skills are equally as good if not better...

Boyd has shown a quarter of us much and is on a mil a year, hogan is already in our top 5 players off the back of 5 games, imagine another 2-3 years time when he's ooc, could easily be the dominant forward of the Comp

Freo don't need Jesse. We do.

Front foot won't mean anything without big coin.

High drafts as compensation are swapping a known for the unknown. My goldfish even know that now.

Just hope we see less of Jesse being [censored] off with the likes of the delivery he was getting on Sunday.

We're at least another two drafts of mediocre/lower-tier finishes on the ladder away from building a young midfield that can challenge within 4 or 5 years.

Depends how well we nail the next two recruitment periods while Roos still has his foot in the door. It only took the Dogs about 3 years of nailed draft picks to be where they are now. Not a single wasted pick.

Freo will NEED Jesse, they'll have cap space once Pav, Sandilands, McPharlane, Mundy, Crowley and Johnson retire.

But they will be also a less appealing proposition for young Jesse.

Without those experienced players, Fremantle will not be the side they are today. Those players I mentioned are ALL key position players.

So while they might have Fyfe, Hill, Neale, they will not have the dominate KP players they have today.

They will need Jesse, they will have money, but they won't be in a better position going forward than the MFC - who will also have money.

This is an easy decision for Hogan, he isn't silly. Jesse Hogan is the very least of our worries.

I worry more about getting Trengove and Petracca healthy, because those 2 players healthy - are like bonus top 5 picks.

Sorry to put a dampner on the Freo not being so good after the older guys retire. Ross learnt his lesson at St K and at Freo has been quietly stockpiling talent! Have a read of this:http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-04-30/no-kids-allowed-ross-lyons-masterplan-mark-ii Extracts:

"....(Freo) have not only recruited well but have developed their recruits along the way...The Dockers’ little known and little utilised players outside the main 22 have been well sourced. We don’t know much about them now, but we will in years to come. Lachie Weller, Connor Blakely, Hayden Crozier, who was keeping Matt de Boer out of the senior team last year, Max Duffy, Tommy Sheridan and rookie Jacob Ballard would be getting games for a lot of other AFL clubs right now....the composition of Fremantle’s list makes for interesting reading. Again using last weekend’s (Peel Thunder) team, three players were top 10 in the national draft and a further four were taken between picks No.19 and 25".

Freo will be a power club for many years and will be scary good on and off the field. I doubt we will match them on either.

Every club will make salary cap room to get Jesse. We (and other clubs) will also need to counter the go home factor and the pull of winning a premiership with the club he supported all his life. He will need to want to stay. If we don't consistently win and climb the ladder so he can have confidence of real success with us, no amount of money will keep him.

I'm glad the club is doing all it can to make Jesse happy and settled off field. If he is happy the contract extension will take care of itself. We will know by end of next year whether or not he extends. I fear for my (and Dee supporters) health if he doesn't and a pandemic of MFCSS sets in. :(

We have put so much time into Jesse, 2 years o him not being able to play, all the rehab and all we gave up to enter the mini draft to get him.

I really hope he realizes how much we have invested in him and I hope he wants to play with his mates and help the MFC to success.

Lifting the Demons out of the cellar will surely be a lot more rewarding than taking the easy option and going to Freo or West Coast,

On a brighter note: "Demons young gun Jesse Hogan is planning to stay put when his current contract expires at the end of 2017. Both his family and management yesterday denied he would consider moving home to Western Australia, as reported in Perth last weekend". http://www.theaustralian.com.au/sport/afl/demon-jesse-hogan-has-no-plans-to-leave-melbourne/story-fnca0u4y-1227339416389

I don't think there is any guarantee that those players mentioned will be able to play to the level their senior players are now. When those players come into the side they are given a very small role and have star players like Fyfe, Mundy, Barlow all to shield them. Once some of those are gone they are then expected to step up, which not all of them will be capable of doing.

A couple of years ago I remember reading how the cats had drafted well with guys like Smedts, Horlin-Smith etc. Fast forward to now and those players really don't look that great once they are expected to do more.

I think it is underestimated just how important the top 5-6 players of a side are.

Demons young gun Jesse Hogan is planning to stay put when his current contract expires at the end of 2017. Both his family and management yesterday denied he would consider moving home to Western Australia, as reported in Perth last weekend.

Hogan’s Melbourne-based agent, Matt Bain of Stride, said the go-home factor was not an issue with his client.

“He has no intention of going home to WA or anywhere else,” Bain said. “He’s more than happy here in Melbourne.”

Early days still but nice to hear! I must say I do get a loyal vibe from Jesse.

I dont get any of the feelings from him that I did from Scully or Frawley or the like.

Greg Denham also takes the opportunity to lay the boots into Chris Connolly in that article - might be some bad blood between them?

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
