Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Zak Jones seems to be struggling to get a game in the Swans star studded side. I think he could be a great value trade probably only costs a 2nd or 3rd rounder.

I would love to see us do the following this off season:

- Trade our first pick (likely between 2-5) to GWS or Brisbane for one of: Shiel, Treloar, Coniglio or Aish.

- Trade our 3rd round pick for Zak Jones

- Bring in a free agent (thinking Scott Selwood)

- Bring in a decent ruckman (thinking Gorringe or Leunberger)

Do you reckon Aish is worth a first rounder? i'd put Sheil and Treloar in that group, i havent seen enough of Coniglio to comment. Sheil and Treloar are serious talents, Aish is a solid young player, with potential...........

I hear that the Bulldogs are very much into Hoskin-Elliot.

For us I've been a big fan of Treloar and Shiel for a while now. I'd love to be able to get either one over the line, but to do that we'd need to have a very good year and show that they'll be playing finals with us. Otherwise it's off to one of the power clubs for them.

It depends where our pick falls. If it is number 5 or 6 then I would definitely swap it for Aish. If it is pick 2 then that may be a different story.

Aish was a pick 7 from two years ago and his first season form was outstanding! He averaged over 17.5 possessions per game plus more than 3.5 tackles per game.

GWS must be absolutely thrilled that they have Scully on their list eating up stacks of their cap for ever and ever with no end in sight.

Shiel would obviously be a fantastic addition for us.

Shiel plus Sloane or Aish or Selwood would be just unreal.

I'd do 4 shiels & aish 2 quality young stars of the future.

I dont think his value has dropped either way. He has had 2 years in the system with AFL experience. If we took the pick to the draft we would need to develop a midfielder to get him to this stage etc.. Unless you get a cfreak like ollie wines. If it was 5 years in and he was a regular in and out player then his value would drop.

Hopefully we throw the kitchen sink at Treloar. I hope he has a quiet year. I expect both he and Shiel will have elite years.

I think Treloar is the safer pick though, his game is more rounded, he is somewhat dual sided, hard at it, great inside and out - and can find the pill.

As good as Shiel is, he is drifts in and out. From a MFC point of view, we've seen too many of those players. Don't get me wrong, I still want Shiel, but I think Treloar should be our priority - as I believe he is a safer pick, and the money we'd need to throw at him, we need to limit our risk of failure. We don't have the best track record of splurging dollars and maximising output in terms of investment.

You really are deluded. With the possible exception of Watts for Yarran, no-one in their right mind would accept any one of those trades.

I love the swap of watts for Yarran...

Yarran is watts only smaller in height.

You mean he hates the contested ball and has the face of a tailor from the 1950s?

The worst aspect of all these mooted trades is that gws will retain picks at the pointy end of the draft to replenish their list if they lose one or two youngsters a year for the next five years, before they start becoming free agents.

It's hard to see them or gc17 getting worse.

My order of preference to target:

- Treloar

- Shiel

- Whitfield

- Kelly

- Coniglio

- Hoskin-Elliott

- Smith

- Greene

- Bugg

The amount of depth they have running through their midfield is scary.

Sydney are very good at giving young mids 2 or 3 years in the seconds with only a handful of senior AFL games. There are exceptions, such as Heeney, but I'm wondering if this patience is being used to develop Zac. I'd certainly love him at the Dees, but ATM consider a high second round pick or even late first round around 16-20 as a realistic trade scenario. He might slip as the year progresses. For his sake I hope he does get more senior game time at the Swans.

Suggested trade from Richmond board:

''Hampson or Vickery to Brisbane. They are desperate for big men. Pick up Aish or their first pick. If we hpget their pick, trade it on to GWS and pick up Dylan Shiel.

Or go hell for leather for Dangerfield.''

This is ridiculous. They're essentially saying Vickery is = Shiel. This is the same Vickery that's struggling remain in their best 22.

As much as I'd love either of them, I would be astonished if we were to get either one of Shiel or Treloar.

I just don't see the appeal of coming to a side who are behind GWS in terms of development.

It'd have to be a bucket load of money. Although I'm sure they'd be two players who'd be on some very decent coin as we speak.

Can't see it happening.

Agreed. They'd have to be pretty homesick and we'd have to offer contracts much larger than the other Vic based clubs are willing to pay them (bar maybe Carlton and St Kilda).

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
