Dawes has no drive to get the ball. AGAIN, i'm sorry for being so positive about him.

At least you can swallow your pride and admit it. :)

We need to offer Dunstall a stack of cash and get him to teach our players how to kick for goal.

Best idea ive heard for sometime Gorg.

If you cant finish when getting these opportunities you have no chance of winning.

Roos & Co. back off the BS recovery/beach sessions and teach these boys how to kick for goal FFS!

Whether you kick well or not has nothing to do with fighting out the game.

Either we lost because we kicked poorly or we lost because we didn't fight. Make up your mind.

yes it does. Kick badly and the fight up the field is futile

Forward line is still dysfunctional

Has been since Neita left.

Also, I'm fed up with Salem in defence. Lets run him in the midfield or high half forward. He's not accountable enough, I'd rather he play as a defensive forward where his skills can actually hit up targets rather than as a makeshift defender. eventually he's gonna have to get in the midfield isn't he? might as well be this year.

Howes kicking was as bad as Watts marking.

Garletts two terrible misses as well as Hogans were almost the difference in the game.

Thought the umpiring wasn't that bad, they certainly let a lot Bernie's cheap shots go, which I found very surprising, given it was umpy's pet Dangerfield who was on the receiving end.

i don't. we've been smashed in the midfield. again.

Agreed, we have no clear winner through the middle nor anyone capable of using the ball cleanly enough or often enough to finish the good work coming off half back and away from the contests/congestion.

We are still 2 dangerous mid fielders away from making everyone look good around them, including Hulk & the scoreboard (this includes mid fielders kicking regular goals as well).

If we don't fix this nothing will change (ie., winning regular games) and we will forever be lamenting loss after loss after loss.

Tough game to watch with some of the basic mistakes made by the Dee's players and some of the simple shots on goal missed. They did fight it out but must be tough for the midfield to fight and then see goals missed.

If we bring that effort every week the wins will come.

OMG Paid my membership before round 1 never again. Mentally weak - the team, and me for paying up too soon.

I hope you retract this because the players had a real crack for four quarters today. Yeah there were some lapses, some skill errors but overall the effort was there all day. Fix those skill errors and capitalise when we have control and we will start to worry a few sides if we can bring that application each week.

If we play with the same effort next week we'll roll the Tigers easily.

Can anyone identify how we have been able to get the jump on opponents two weeks in a row & then capitulate after quarter time?

Can anyone identify how we have been able to get the jump on opponents two weeks in a row & then capitulate after quarter time?

ask Dave Misson

hes been at the club 4 years and seems to have done nothing to bring the team up to AFL fitness levels, but somehow he is immune from criticism

I don't think he's scared of contact per se, I just feel he doesn't "get it", that he just doesn't have a feel for body-on-body or how to make it work. He often gets out positioned in these contests, doesn't seem able to get on top physically.

I've got a feeling he may he trying to be too smart and avoid the contact so he can win possession and get away cleanly. He needs to figure out 1) this doesn't work in the big leagues and 2) if you win the hard ball and hey it out to a teammate it's far more beneficial for the team.

Having said that he did drop his head in marking contests a couple of times as well. Either way it's something that needs to be fixed because he has the talent but that will only get you so far.

Posted

I wonder if they will drop one of watts/Dawes? With frost injured (possible brake)? That may save them both.

Worth bringing in Gawn/pederson? I like the idea of Gawn.

I think Newton, vandenburg and Bradshaw will rarely get 20+ possessions this year, but next year they will all benefit from this continued exposure to afl level intensity (wish they would though)!

I'm looking forward to next week! Bring on the tigs!! #goingnomatterwhat!!

I think we have to put things in perspective. We are playing a side that has comprehensively dismantled North and Collingwood. Both better teams than us.

Collingwood is NOT a better team than us.

This bloke would soon help that

Shiel297.png

yes but do we, & does PJ & PR have the wherewithal to get him here,,,, along with others we need.

maybe we could have had him last year or before, but I feel every club that has stripes or bands, will be after him now.

He's played 10 games. It's part of his development and his skills across half back gives us something we've sorely lacked for years.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
