POST MATCH DISCUSSION - ROUND 1, 2015

Featured Replies

I want to talk everyone up, Lumumba hogan Tyson Viney Brayshaw Vandenberg Garlett garland McDonald great effort boys

If the advantage was allowed for Hogan, when Brayshaw ran into an open goal; and Frost capabilities on one of his two missed opportunities, then all 7 peoples who debuted for Melbourne today would of scored a goal. Compare that to last year.

Great to watch, been getting up at 3am for round 1 each year for the last 5 years (UK) finally worth it!

You too eh ... but you should move across the water, we only have to get up at 4 am.

A great day. So this is what it feels like to support a football team. A real football team.

Gee the new guys were good. Garlett could've kicked 5, Brayshaw lays 9 tackles, Jesse takes 4 contested grabs kicks 2 and split a pack to pieces resulting in a goal, Lamumbas goal couldn't have come at a better time, Newton snagged a couple, Frosty was solid and Vandenberg looks an inspired rookie pickup. I think the recruiting staff deserve a few votes today.

I would think about getting a white stick and a dog.

I disagree but wont make it personal

The guy who plays the man not the ball is usually the coward

So good! Can't wait to watch the replay!

What was the crowd attendance?

27'500, and thats not counting the 14 who barracked for the suns.

Anyone think we should have Hells Bells playing every time we take to the field!

That was just awesome. 9tackles to Brayshaw is insane. Tmac 12 marks. The Jamar vs. Smith battle. Watts taking contested marks ang THE HULK finally got to strut around the MCG the way he was born to. Just an amazing game to be at.

That fumble by Ablett in the GOAL square in the last was priceless.

Winnnniiinnngggg!

2nd on the ladder and 129% life doesn't get much better

HOW GOOD IS THAT! Still a lot to work on but they stood up when they needed too.

Kent is a tough hombre with a big future

Great start

wow just got home from the game. Firstly we have actually recruited players that can play.

Vandenberg and Newton. wow they just have no fear and go straight foe the ball.

Gartlett its so nice to see a flashy player put on a lot of defensive pressure. Missed some easy shots but impressed today.

Hogan finally saw what we already know. Just splits packs and kicked that important goal and he will be great

Watts just keep him forward every week. Rarely wastes the ball when he has it. Great game

Jamar was awesome in the ruck I thought. Hammered smith and did some great taps

Viney was great on ablett

Tommy Mac wow fantastic and if he could really kick he'd be even better. Dunn was great and today I forgot we even lost frawley.

Brayshaw just through himself in and layed some great tackles. so good to see someone do the number 10 justice.

Im just stoked for the boys and it was just a great atmosphere and the unveiling of the Robbie Flower win was a great touch.

That fumble by Ablett in the GOAL square in the last was priceless.

You can put that down to Jack Viney working on Abletts shoulder for the previous 3 and a half quarters. By that stage Ablett wasn't keen, or perhaps, even able to move his left arm hence the fumble

No voice left. For good reason this time.

What a performance. What a day.

Me neither P-man, and I was watching it on TV from 650 kms away.

Me neither P-man, and I was watching it on TV from 650 kms away.

You and me both champ. I'll be there in full voice next week when we go 2-0.

What a great all round performance. Not just the win, but the way they played.

Still buzzing. Phone has gone off. The amber fluid will flow tonight.

Key moment for me was when Kent's teammates stood up and remonstrated when he got clobbered. That tells us soo much about whats to come for this mob. Oh happy day !!!!!!!

Seems Jack Viney and Col Garland aren't playing for their careers after all.

Dont be like that Nasher, you know that if Garland doesn't back it up next week we'll have the knives straight into his back.

Viney was bloody great today.

From memory didn't stuff anything up either.

That will please some around here!

If not gone the 'mental demons' and 'loser' mindset have faded. Largely due to only 7 players on the field today were there in our darkest hour of the 186 game.

Today we learnt how to win again! ;)

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
