Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Missing Terlich, Riley, Petracca, Hunt, Trengove,, McKenzie ... Cross and Newton were sent indoors by Misson after coming out.

Howe and Vince did most stuff today.

Mostly drills in their respective groups, again ball movement.

We now have a 200cm full back in training, Fitzy trained with defenders, spoke to him, was told last Thursday he was going to be trialled at fullback at Casey, said he enjoyed it, only cocked up once when he went on a good lead, only to remember he was now a defender and his opponent had gone other way.

Frost trained with the midfield mostly?

JKH issue was an infected cut, he is fine now.

Also spoke to Aaron Vandenberg, he agrees he took one bounce too many on the run in for his goal, and shanked the kick, happy to see it go through.

Spoke to Brendan McCartney, said Friday was ordinary, only good thing was it showed the players what happens when you don't play as a team, said it was only NAB Challenge, how the team is travelling is something to look at 7 weeks into the season, finds it hilarious the Pies are already being written off.

Roos had a good chat to the squad at the beginning, must have gone for five or six minutes, they had a good laugh about something at the end, which is good to see.

Much appreciated again.

I can now stop reading the reviews/obituaries of Friday's match and focus on the positives - get the ball back in their hands, bring on round one!

Said he really enjoyed it, he needs a good year, if it works kudos to the coaching staff, Rawlings doing some work with him

Not sure what the hell they are doing with Frost, was doing stoppage work today with HL, N Jones, Viney and Michie

A nice little battering ram in the middle maybe?

If I was Fitzy, I'd be feeling a little shaky. Hasn't done the business as a forward or a ruckman and "now to be trialled as a fullback at Casey". Next step might be the DCM.

Yep. Hasn't shown anything as a 2nd ruckman/resting forward, which is his only chance of making it at AFL level. Don't want him anywhere near our backline in the seniors.

BBO, he is fully aware as to where he is at.

Think some tend to forget that he is a big guy, has had to develop his body, whilst battling shoulder reconstrucitons, chronic fatigue and diabetes, as a forward he has kicked 22 goals in 19 games, so he is not that bad up forward, adding another string to his bow if he can become a full back as well, as well as adding something to the team

22 out of 19 is not something to hang his hat on. You keep saying this stat. Just over a goal a game for a key forward is pretty much a fail.

Thanks for the report mind you

Just a general note, as you know I speak to all the players, they know the supporters opinion of them, they know where their shortcomings are, and the guys who are not superstars and who are coming out of contract at the end of the season know if they don't put in a good season it will probably be their last for their particular club in the present environment

He is not a key forward, he has been a "ruckman/forward", so a goal a game is not a bad return, if compared to some of the other ruckman/forwards, say Max Gawn (who was flavour of the month, before the NAB Challenge), has kicked 12 in 26 games

You will also like this bit from the Scorps website as well then

Jack Fitzpatrick was put in an unfamiliar role down back but demonstrated his versatility by taking six marks and repetitively repelling Port’s entries into forward 50.

I like that Fitz is being tried down back, they are not giving up on him and giving him the chance to still be on the list. This is a good thing and must give players confidence, then it is up to them to step up.

Sometimes the way they play u wouldn't know that they realised that.

Yes it seems like that. Others like Toumpas get lampooned ion here but after easily 5 or 6 years im yet to see anything in Fitzy. the only times he looked ok was without an opponent running up the wing. he is a great athlete but that matters for zilch at AFL level if you cant do the basics well.

I though his one position would be relief ruck, forward but he is far off being that sort of player.

could he be a pure defender? possibly but his kicking is average so that will hurt us as well.

his days are surely numbered.

It appears they're getting him set to play the forward/second ruck role, so it's probably related.

And you base this on? Fitzy's field kicking is above average, or so the coaches tell me, hence the trial at full back...edit hit backspace instead of post first time

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
