Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Unfortunately I don't see a bright future for Toumpas in the AFL. We royally screwed that draft pick.

I must have seen a different game to you i thought he played a really good game.

24 disposals 10 marks and 4 tackles. Some people will never be satisfied.

Yeah nah, you can shut your eyes and pretend it was the foot off the pedal, but that second half was the exactly the same type of panicky performance we saw over the course of last year. They just turn to water when there is a lead to protect. Rushed kicks, dropped marks, terrible decisions, turnovers galore. The only way to cure it is by winning, so at least that was ticked off.

Thank god we have Lumumba. One more player who doesn't fill their shorts when it's time to stand up.

Repeatedly caught when he had an opponent near him. Slow decision maker, quite an ordinary field kick.

Edit: Salem is already light years ahead of him.

The fact our near 1st string side could barely fall over the line against a team of draftees, that's just abysmal.

We may have had a near first team on paper, but we didn't have a near first team on the field for much of the second half.

I agree. 2 poor kicks and caught once the other one very stiff. Ran hard all day as per his 10 marks also was a lot better defensively. So far from our worst it is laughable anyone would raise him. Edited by big_red_fire_engine

Perfectly said! One of the things I liked from him today was how hard he went at times. Some people had him pencilled in as another Watts/Morton pea heart, but I saw some really courageous efforts from him today.

As you said, some people will never be satisfied!!!!

Nah, he's alright. He just needs some work on his inside game.

Toumpas gets caught more than any other player I've seen in AFL football.

It is fixable, he has many quality attributes, he'll be a good player, just needs to iron out some simple issues.

I hope McCartney can get in touch with Scott West, because he would do wonders for James Toumpas.

Being there today I thought I would give my 2 cents worth. I thought Lumumba, Salem and Garlett were stand outs for me. Hogan provided a target as you would want and expect. Toumpas showed potential too. I think he'll make it. Shocking second half as we all know. It will be another long year. At least we are not not the Bulldogs. They are not competitive at all.

Turning to water when protecting a lead? Can't remember that happening much in the past 7 seasons. Never had many leads to protect. Edited by america de cali

How does saying Toumpas playing well is similar to my comment of finishing bottom 3.

You really are a simpleton.

Toumpas showed great promise, viney also was fantastic.

Missed Hogans' link up second half.

Lumumba was simply excellent.

Tyson, classy.

Frost and McDonald will lead our backline for the next 10 years.

Garland showed he isn't completely past it.

Surprised you raised Garland and Viney. Both need to sort their ball use.

good to see some people have written off the season after 60 minutes of football. calm the fark down. seriously.. its the whizz fizz cup in the cauldron that is North Ballarat..

I'm happy with a win, nobody getting hurt, there were some good performances out there today, and there are also a few things to work on.. you doomsayers better not watch us against the Essendon thirds next week, if we don't win by 15 goals, you'll be cutting up your membership cards!!

Toumpas was pretty good in the first half, and was by no means the worst in the second half.Watching you could clearly see the team mentally switch off after half time. Roos was also clearly experimenting with the centre clearance lineup in the last quarter. This happened to coincide with the bullies putting their best in the centre, the outcome we hardly got a clearance. I also thought Grimes was reasonable today.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
