I know there are things that our club should be doing to drive new support, revenue, members etc. (i.e the recent comparison between our intra-club match setup and Collingwoods), but let's also look at the good things WE ARE doing.
Was just speaking to a Chinese born colleague of mine who knows that I am a diehard Demon. Said that our presence at the Chinese New Year celebrations on the weekend was amazing. Said when he got off the train, and walked to where it was all being held, there were a lot of MFC dressed people handing out promotional things, whilst SPEAKING MANDARIN (which i thought was amazing), encouraging them to get along to our games by offering free tickets, prizes etc. and getting them to have a go at kicking the footy and hand-balling, which his kids LOVED!

Said he was very impressed by our presence, especially the fact that we got mandarin speaking representatives to talk to them about the game and our club in their first language (mandarin). Now he is even attending a game in March with his entire family (as they received tickets), and intends to get a membership!

He said he wasn't alone, and from his word, a lot of people that were there shared his sentiment, or are at least now rocking a MFC hat or scarf (even if they don't know what it quite is).

So well done to the MFC. We have a long way to go to turning around and building our brand, but i feel we are starting to "get"/understand what we need to do to become a powerful football club again, both on AND off the field.

$10 million a year for ten years and they can have any emblem they like.

Melbourne Dragons is fine with me.

We would still be The Dees

Use the jumpers they had for the Shanghai clash... I have Warnock's (#1) from the auction.

I have nothing wrong with this but unfortunately unless the club can start providing entertainment on the field it's a futile exercise.

Everything is working well for the club now EXCEPT the on-field bit.

My boss is Chinese and he's adopted Geelong as his team. He's been in the country for 7 years and in that time has just jumped on a bandwagon. I don't blame him.

I went out with an Indian colleague of his and their family for dinner and the little son (about 5) was playing on his dad's smartphone, and got all excited when he saw the Hawks had won. The father didn't care but with the boy obviously going to school here and just going along with the crowd it's no surprise who he supports.

Winning games is now the final piece of the puzzle. I know it's easier said than done but the club needs to take that final step or it will forever languish in the supporter stakes. Chinese push is amazing but we have to give these students a reason to be interested.

It's up to the players now.

Lots of Chinese people are living in the Melbourne CBD and inner suburbs - our home territory.

Plenty more where they came from too!..

Great work from the club.

Need to do more work with the other largest growing community, the Indians. Real opportunity here that has already caught the attention of other clubs including Eddie's mob. Mentioned this to the club a few years ago, but did not seem interested. Was not part of the marketing strategy?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
