I hope so!. And I'm not calling him slow, just not super fast,

I was speaking to one of the fitness guys, apart the endurance running, Roos wanted more leg speed on everybody if it was possible, some of the speed on display today was very good, JKH, Watts, Toumpas, Matt Jones, Bail are all showing that the work has happened

What closed session, I was there and it was a really good session, from Ben Mathews and Daniel Cross 'it was pretty good'

Lots of match sim and setting up the game plan, hence the closed session

Standouts for me in the match sim, Jones x 2, Kent, Garlett, Garland, Jetta, Hogan, Stretch, Newton, Michie

Roos wants the first simple option taken, and lots of movement so there are options, he pulled one run up because Dom Tyson stopped to try and get around him man, instead of kicking straightaway to Hogan who had got free in the 50, gave Tyson a gobfull

Injury news, every member of the squad made an appearance at some time or other, Howie did a few little dance steps and a couple of handballs and left for a swim and weights, conservative estimate at least 4 weeks,

Neal Bullen, was a bit down, just watched for half an hour, another 4 weeks, not sure whether they are going to operate just at the moment, being assessed

Mitch White has a big toe injury, was keeping Jack Trengove company, latest visit to doctor for Jack was on Tuesday, all still progressing well

Others on light duties or rehab, King, Oscar Mc, Bernie Vince (he is week away from full training)

Other notes, Jake Lovett did the whole session, including the match sim, had to look for him, which was really good, no glaring mistakes, had a chat to him, top bloke, hopes to impress, didn't seem that knackered with all the running, so perhaps he is already doing extra

Aaron Vandanberg's body shape is already changing, amazing what full time training can do, he is a big midfielder

I though Billy Stretch would spend most of year at Casey, looked excellent today, speed to burn, didn't miss a kick

What back Injury, during the session the ruck division got together, Jamar, Spencer, Gawn, Fitzpatrick, Pedersen and Hogan to do a bit of tap work and second effort, Hogan picked up Gawn at one stage and drove him into the ground, wonderful to watch, didn't get it on camera though, but there are others on my Twitter Demonpk

Spoke to Dean Kent afterwards, he is finally fully fit and firing, feeling great

Got the guns photo today and a half...Sam Frost

Again any questions feel free

Great report, as usual, TDI. Is Trengove off the scooter yet?

A bit hard to be closed down at Gosch's. I went past as they were warming up. Vince, Oscar Mc, Max King in rehab running. Am sure Saty and a couple of the others get down there this morning

Closed just means the time isn't published and media are not welcome to film, as far as I know. As has been said a few times, you can't "close" a session at Gosch's.

Really important area for improvement so this is good news. Even taking into account our turnovers, poor disposal, poor decision making etc, our leg speed has been poor in comparison to other sides. Whether we had the ball or were chasing. Sounds like some of our new kids such as Stretch have good speed. Just need to get the balance right between bulking up and speed.

This is good, tighten up the defence now get the ball moving quickly into attack.

Sorry forgot one of the best in match sim coz he left session early, Watts, has gained a couple of metres of speed, burnt off a couple of opponents, reckons it's just all the extra running and Watt bike work actually doing it's job

And for those who think he is slow, in one match sim, JImmy Toumpas ran down JKH from behind

That is the best news I've heard all summer. If Watts delivers on what I think he is capable of, that takes the pressure off a lot of players.

I still think Jack Watts will be something special.

Jack Trengove is hoping to get out of the moonboot in the next couple of weeks, very positive

Ben Mathews is good, I asked him about the ball movement today he said it was 'pretty good', before Xmas one session was 'ordinary', Daniel Cross who is bluntly honest said it was pretty good as well

Misson was not joking when he said it would take 3 years, today we had over 30 players all looking fit and firing, of all the drills, we went coast to coast very fast at least half a dozen times, one involved 4 kicks

With all of today's goings on, I plumb forgot that something was happening involving footballers on a field, albeit at training.

Thanks again to TDI and please ignore that Wild Man from Borneo rubbish. Anyone who's ever been to Borneo knows that the locals look nothing like that distinguished man in the photo.

Never, ever been slow....has great evasive and closing speed.

It's his shite kicking that annoys me, but like Bail, I think M Jones is still an important link player.

What's remarkable about that is that half of those are new (including Hogan, as he wasn't available last year).

Even seeing Kent, Jetta and Michie up and about is encouraging.

Getting harder and harder to imagine what the Round 1 team is going to look like, especially for the last few places.

Btw the players must have had their photos done yesterday.

www.aflphotos.com.au

Jack Watts still looks like that 17 year old kid.

Bernie Vince has a rude head..

I'm not much of a photographer but what they've tried to do with the lighting in the photos of all players is bloody terrible in my opinion.

Lucky Jaeger has big muscles because it looks like it stops right there.

Suggest he wears board shorts for the next photo shoot.

Give him a break Macca he has just come out of what could be a cold water pool. I think we have all had that deflating experience!

Fair call, Earl.

I was just going say that I reckon Jack would have a bigger slug but decided against it.

Answers - Vandenberg, looks the part, but is going to have competition, like everybody else

The kicking was good across the whole squad today, Roos has got runners everywhere, so there are easy options, and players are 'encouraged' to take them, the 'poor kicks 'supposedly' are getting better each time I watch the match sim, Jack Grimes followed the ball down on one run and slammed through the goal post height on the run from just inside the 50

Matt Jones and a few others are noticeably quicker, Watts, JKH, Toumpas

Most of the squad today was pretty good, I only picked out the ones that stood out to me and heard Roos praise, I am biased when it comes to Nev

My lovely lady saw Jack Watts minus the jumper on Monday, she said he looks nothing like the photo which makes him look 12, why does everybody still think he weighs 70k,

McCartney starts in next week or two

Hair shirt itchy today Clint?

Yeh, I'm sure he really struggles with the ladies compared to your masculine self?

Lol. I'm Steve McQueen for crying out loud.

I've never struggled with the ladies.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
