Training - Wednesday 21st January, 2015 at Maroochydore

Recommended Posts

Well done Rb on your reports!

Gee Vince has had a poor pre season. Jan 21 and he's still not training consistently. Not his fault of course. He's my early nomination for a down year, just like Garland last year due to his interrupted pre season.

Oh yes the Golden Ticket for non-performance. BBP is awarding it early....FMD

Vince BTW has had a shoulder reco/op. He can run and has been running,. He hasn't joined in full contact drills for obvious reasons

This is so much better than High Altitude training in the Americas somewhere, with Bs reports coming via some club hack.

Real updates from people who care about us Victorian bound supporters.

BTW,expect a lone scooterist to roll into marooch in the next 23 hours, ala Cliffy Young.

Great reports RB much appreciated " I realised afterwards just how much I have got out of going along each day. You definitley feel a part of it in a way and it's a real boost to the work day."...now you know why I go along....

oO Lunar Silhouette wants you down here as you have done such a great job, perhaps we can fan boy together, you just need to keep away from Chris Dawes, I have the benefit of living only 15 minture away and know every good café within 5k of Gosches

They have a remote controlled camera on a very high tripod down here, with Roos in the cherry picker I assume they didn't have it there.........he loves his gizmos

Clearly we're behind the times once again. Should have a drone.

This was a suggestion made by Nate Jones to both Roos and tech guy, (forgotten his name, which is poor of me), they are still fairly difficult to control, all laughed when it was mentioned that if it fell out of sky and clobbered club captain how that would be explained to both media and Workcover, of course gizmo mad Roos wants it looked at in the future

Great work RB. It goes to show how well written and constructed your pieces are that after reading about the need to add nutrition to the brain, the very next line I read as "Lamumba streaks out of the middle with a nice red..."

..and I read yours as: "Lamumba steaks out of the middle with a nice red..."

Oh boy, I made a meal out of that one..

I own a parrot bebop drone (which is at the low end of the drone spectrum), my thoughts would be:

a) the battery life of commercially available drones simply isn't long enough for the stated purpose, definitely not long enough to keep it in the air for a quarter. The life on my drone is approx 12-15min depending on weather conditions. you don't find too many that can stay in the air for more than 20min.

b) depending on the complexity of the drone you may require 2 people to operate it - 1 person to control its movement and one to control the camera, which is the way movie studios use them.

c) if it gets hit by a ball 30m off the ground (entirely possible in afl) you can kiss goodbye to your drone.

d) can't fly it in wet weather

There are other reasons around privacy, potential for personal damage etc. But I'd say the main reason would be the battery life.

The session is taking a little nose dive at this point - A few look a little over the camp and starting to mentally switching off. Looking for the finish line - My advice ... get some more Carbs for the brain, it supposedly runs exclusively on glucose.

Not quite right. Once it's used all available glucose, it will continue to operate using ketone bodies.

Symptoms include terrible headaches, lethargy and generally feeling like shyte.

They did have the tripod operating up at Maroochy - I suspect that Roosy might have been controlling/ monitoring it from his scissor lift position.

Who is oO Lunar Silhouette?

In terms of getting down to Gosches? One Demonlander has offered up some accommodation, but no luck on the airfare as yet.

Not sure I class myself as a fan boy, probably more of an avid Demons supporter I'd say. Like I said in a previous post, I'm more of a player critique-er than a befriend-er and talent spotting in the shadows is more my go. Having said that, I'll gladly meet up and compare notes with you when I get a chance to come down - I'll let you know.

I think that Lunar Silhouette is TDI's attempt at humor (he is referring to Moonshadow).

Perhaps 'nomination' was the wrong word.

The point I was getting across was - if you have an interrupted pre-season it generally has an adverse impact on the season ahead. Vince has certainly had an interrupted pre-season and I wouldn't be surprised if his season (overall) isn't as good as 2014.

You only have to look at Garland and Viney's form in 2014 compared to their excellent 2013 seasons. Both had interrupted pre-seasons, both had mediocre 2014 seasons by their standards.

Viney had a mediocre 2014 season? Really??? Ooookkkaayyy. He may have finished outside the top 10 in the Bluey, but that did not reflect the amount of learning the kid did throughout the year, sure he would have been happier with a better year if he had a full preseason, but it was far from mediocre.

By the way, he finished higher in 2014 then 2013.

His year is what you would expect from a 2nd year player. He's developing well and working to establish his AFL career. Some have pushed for him to be a part of the leadership group, my feeling is to leave it for the more experienced players and give him time.

I understand your point but I don't buy it as a given. Tyson had no pre-season either.

Vince has done everything but the contact stuff. He is a senior player and should have a fine year

Saty, you're on the money again.

Just tweeted by Travis King from AFL:

"Attack of the drones! A Hawthorn drone has crash-landed next to players moments before an intra-squad match."

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
