Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

2015 MFC Training Camp Maroochydore

Howe did he do that

If you are feeling at all nauseous, don't watch the footage of Tom McDonald kicking in his left foot during the Nathan Jones interview.

To be fair he hit up fitzy pretty well in the first kick he had on video

Went down to training at Maroochy this morning and jotted down a few observations. I'll be able to get down to all the footy sessions if anyone has something particular they want to know.

* Kent, Terlich & Spencer doing intervals separate to main group. Later Riley running laps by himself.

* Overcast & a bit wet under foot (fair bit of rain lately) but doesn't take long to dry up.

* Fair bit of match simulation focusing on forward entries from the back half. Viney & Frost getting praised for their decision making & disposal.

* Jimmy Plunkett from Leading Teams working exclusively with the Dees I think. Nice guy

* Hogan like a caged lion wanting to rip apart his prey. Got a nice confidence streak/ swagger about him.

* Toumpas getting a bit of kicking responsibility from the back half. Can't fault his kicking. I think he is becoming a Roosy favorite.

* Dunn positioning himself for more leadership responsibility this year perhaps - very vocal. Just a hunch.

* Guys looking a bit tired. Maybe the heat? I think they had been at it for an hour or two before I turned up based on the comments from Jones on website.

* Noticeable compared to previous training/ coaches that there seem to be less standouts and more of an even spread across the Board. Similar to what others have observed - Sydney-esk?

* Hate to say it but Crossy is looking a tad old. One last push?

* Didn't notice Roosy much at first compared to other coaches. Not as egotistical. That seems to rub off on the players. There not as on edge about everything. Not quite as much fig-jam going around.

* Watts is looking fit, lean and toned. Not lacking any confidence the young fella.

* Weren't getting a drill right at one stage (I think) and Roosy made the point of moving to another oval to get it right.

* Finished off with some games play. Seeing which team can kick from one end to the next finishing with a goal.

* Progressed from Torps to Torps on the non preferred to drop kicks on the non preferred and wound up with a netball ring shoot out. Lumumba and Garlett surprisingly can stroke it alright.

Still trying to perfect the photo gig so I'll see if can get a few good ones for you guys over the next few days.

Appreciate the report RB. What made you say Cross looks old? I think most of us accept its his last year but I think he's important in the team make up this season as our young mids get games under their belts. I mentioned in a different thread last week he would perfectly suited to Shannon Byrnes type role next season.

Really hope Roos/Goody/PJ get Crossy committed to us for 2016 in a coaching capacity, if he decides to hang up the boots.

Apparently Eddie is a huge wrap for him and wants him at the Pies in a similar role.

For a second there he reminded me of what some of those retired guys look like when they are playing in those "Old Man" State of Origin matches. A little less fluid in the joints is probably a good way to put it. Having said that I have no doubt about his value to the team and I suppose that preseasons would take a toll on the older guys more. I'd assume he was just pretty tired at that point and that he would be able to freshen up nicely in and around games during the season. Wouldn't take it too seriously, I'm just relaying my observations.

I've heard plenty about 'the man in the little boat' but I didn't know it had anything to do with Hemingway or literature.

The 'little man in the boat' does have a literary history, but it is not Hemingwayesque.

The writer I remember introducing me to the term was a scatological old devil by the name of Charles Bukowski.

You'll find his stuff around if you look hard enough.

Bukowski had such a revival that he's almost considered mainstream these days :-) The film "Barfly" gives a pretty good account of his life (Mickey Rourke as Bukowski, Faye Dunaway and Sylvester's brother Frank Stallone as the barman).

Burgos Day 2 Diary:

http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2015-01-14/day-2-dees-complete-big-training-session

Again, this is perhaps the highlight for me:

The walk from the apartments to breakfast includes a stroll over a small bridge.

But something creates a commotion in the water, catching the eye of big men Tom McDonald and Sam Frost.

Surely, it can’t be a croc in the lagoon?

Soon coach Paul Roos, Brett Allison and football technology manager Pete Roberts walk over the bridge to take a peek in the water.

In the end, the exact type of fish isn’t identified, but nevertheless, it seems to be a very big one – or bigger than your average goldfish at home!

Don't forget "Tales of Ordinary Madness"

Ben Gezaro gives a magnificent performance as Bukowski from 1981

I've lost four kilos on the Palio diet.

I now trawl the country roads for road kill and search fo protein continuously .

I have become more mentally unstable than ever, though most of you are aware of my decline, but physically I am sexier than ever.

btw- how many roids does Goodwin have left over?are they still relevant?do they work?

How will we be able to discern that you are "more mentally unstable than ever"?

Factotum is my favorite with Matt Dillon and Marisa Tomei. But I liked Tales of ... too. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0417658/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_17

New movie called Bukowski coming out this year.

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
