WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - ALEX NEAL-BULLEN

Agree, I like that we got value back from the ND23 trade too by using those picks.

I don't like it when we lose value in trades by not using picks returned in a trade.

It's quite a haul for ND23 now by the looks of those that fell to 40 and 53...

Fair call, absolutely agree. I was bothered we slided 23 to GWS for Frost.

But to get back Neal-Bullen and McDonald - on top of Frost - is an excellent result.

I think that result would be above and beyond what our recruiting staff would've imagined when we parted with 23.

If reports are true we got one of the players we were considering at 23 (Neal-Bullen) with the bonus of Frost and Oscar.

Brilliant recruiting or pure fluke?

Recognised as a super-professional like his great mate and former Tigers teammate Billy Stretch, who is headed to Melbourne as a father-son pick, Neal-Bullen won more clearances than any other player at this year’s national under-18 championships, averaging five a game.

How did he slip to 40 again?

I'm nominating him as my smokey to succeed this year.

Chief sitting Bull = Chief Kneeling Bull = Chief Neal Bullen

I'm calling him "The Chief"

Footy tragic = Yes

Too much time on my hands?

Well it is the weekend.

From Inside Football:

"Alex is probably the pick of our bunch at Glenelg. Played half a dozen senior games as an inside midfielder after having an outstanding carnival and I was surprised he didn't get All Australian. I'd expect him to go in the first 25 picks. He's a bit Pendlebury-like because he's not blessed with pace but his ability to get out of traffic and use the ball is outstanding. Had 25 possessions in one game at senior level and is just a great character kid in terms of maturity."

- Glenelg football manager Matt Lokan

I am starting to get a really good feeling this potentially could become another Dayne Beams, Daniel Hannerbery and Luke Parker pick.

The type of pick people will look back and say how did this gun player slipped out to pick 40. I seriously think he will have more impact early on out of all our draftees. I could potentially see him breaking out in his 2nd or 3rd year of footy and push his name right up to the top.

A driven individual who was winning some big numbers in the SANFL. I feel in the AFL he will just continue to rack up the footy with ease.

By the sounds of the beep test he was right up at the pointy end and also apparently did mondays gruelling session just fine.

Looking forward to see him having a very successful AFL career.

I have a feeling that this bloke will get some senior game time this year [and/or feature in the B&F at Casey].

I've been watching replays of the championships and watching his highlights more and more. I really think we have something special here. I don't think he'll be a Selwood or a Dangerfield but I see him playing 200 odd games.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full
