I don't know about anyone else but how satisfying is it gunna be when we start to win consistently knowing that u have "paid the price" (membership) so to speak for the last 8 long depressing years and more.

Being a paid member is like being married in that u go through the goods times, which there has been sfa lately and the bad times which there has been plenty of.

Like I say to me young kids "stick with it and the rewards will come".

The mighty demons will rise again.

I agree mate, once we finally do turn this around it is going to feel so sweet, most other clubs will have no idea (bar maybe st. Kilda). That's why the win against essendon this year was so bloody good, once it starts happening consistently it's gonna feel bloody great.

I think I will be crying with happiness. That's not a joke either.

Somebody on here posted that being a MFC member was like being married in that you have to be prepared to take the good with the bad times.

Not too sure about this analogy linking membership to marriage! My support for the MFC has outlived six marriages and, if I get romantic, it may even outlive a seventh (and that is without 'good times')!

I thought the count should have been closer to 30k

Maybe our fence sitting supporters aren't as resilient as our players.

Or maybe because a lot of people have been on holidays and after Xmas and New Year people have less money at this time of the year.....Just saying...

I like to think that an being an MFC member waiting for a premiership is like leaving the porch light on for Harold Holt to come home.

Still living the high life in China I believe!

I am as keen a watcher of membership numbers as anyone but I think it's pointless until some games begin - even preseason stuff.

I suspect the reason we are a bit ahead of last year, and a bit further ahead of the years before that is down to the fact that the club has improved its member retention through things like automatic sign ups, Demon For Life, email communications and the like.

I know I join earlier than I used to, so whether we are 50 or 500 ahead of last year is pretty meaningless.

We won't know until round three or four if we're really improving our core numbers.

No doubt you are right, but you don't make a jump like the one we did last year through simple improved retention strategies.

Fans are more excited and our numbers are mirroring last years and beating them - it's promising to say the least.

Oh Dear.......I think you will find that the MCC is a lot younger than you think.....made up of supporters of many teams

As a MCC member and also a full member of the football club, which is really a donation, I think you perception is rather outdated

Being an MCC member myself.

You obviously don't realise we do say things with tongue in cheek.

I know exactly how much is paid for the football component.

I have ignored that and pay the full membership.

It's interesting to see how well we could go with some decent onfield performances to start the year. North hit the 40k mark last year and I have no doubt we would get to 40-45k with a half decent team and a few early win. The explosion in membership figures past the 40-50k mark has coincided with our extremely crappy onfield performances since 2007. If we can get some early wins you'll see a lot of people jump back on onboard - despite all the rubbish we hear against the us we are actually one of the better supported teams over the last couple of decades however due to MCC this wasn't always reflected in membership numbers.

If we can get to 40-45k as a solid base we will go a long way to cementing our position in the national comp.

Have been slightly responsible for 10 memberships joining this year that haven't in past years. We better improve or massive egg on face!

As an MCC member I pay my donation to the club in August each year.

It is a donation as I already have enough scarves but I do like the car bumper stickers.

I don't recall getting the bummer, err I mean bumper stickers for a while... are they no longer an item for out of state members? The only bumper sticker I have is for the Newtown Swans (who my son plays for) and that can be a little embarrassing as from a distance it looks just like a Sydney Swans bumper sticker.

I'm pretty sure I got bumper stickers with my Interstate member gear hardtack...

The kids (one Young Demon and one Little Devil) definitely got sticker packs because they were immediately plastered all over anything that wasn't moving.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

We'll break down the Match SIM against North Melbourne and wrap up the preseason with insights into training and our latest recruits. I apologize for skipping our annual season review show at the end of last season. After a disapponting season filled with off-field antics and a heated trade week, I needed a break. Thankfully, the offseason has recharged me, and I’m back—ready t
