You want us to wear all red?

I don't think that would be a very good look...

Might be a problem when we play the Gold Coast.

(So we should assume someone at the AFL will mandate we wear the red version in that game.)

I'd prefer it to the all white when playing say St Kilda.

At least red is one of our colours.

What's wrong with the normal strip with white or blue shorts?

lol - you're asking the wrong people bub. need to ask the crazies at afl house or wyl's mates at ch7

I agree there's no problem when we wear our traditional kit. But I was responding to the statement that we could wear the red away strip and not need the white one.

Personally, I'm in favour of us wearing our traditional gear at every game. I've never seen the need for clash jumpers. But that's a different argument.

Yes, but when have we ever worn all red?

I am attached to the blood red yolk with the dark navy blue style.

I would argue, and have, that the white is more aligned to our history than a movement toward the kind of 'all-red' clash strip that we are talking about.

I am not going to get into it as I don't mind the red clash strip, but an all red number is a step I am not that comfortable with.

If people thought our last clash strip made us look like Sydney, we would look like GC in all red.

Sorry Roger but as a lifelong Evertonian, I could not handle the Dees wearing the all red, to much Liverpool in that

There was no confusion they wore the all red against us last year at the G

yeah gotta agree all red including shorts is too much

shorts to be white or navy or white with navy highlights depending who we play

Maybe the black we used to wear?

People uncomfortable with black and red as colours?

It's funny how wearing white shorts as the away team is an unquestioned remnant of history.

I remember a NAB Cup game a few years ago we wore red jumper with blue shorts - it didn't look terrible. The white shorts might have to do.

referencing shorts and colours. The notion of a clash strip is to LESSEN the confusion ( apparently ) So if youre wearing the white or red strip its to be the 'lighter' team. You dont then introduce DARK shorts ..its negating

Now all we need is for the umpires to wear lime green so they don't clash.

Remember that Breast cancer match the umps and us in pink! aarrgg!

We've always worn our traditional jumper vs Gold Coast when we've been the away team (2011 and 2013).

Gold Coast once wore their white clash strip against us in 2013 at the MCG, but every other year they've worn the usual red strip.

So in conclusion, the afl don't view melbourne v golf coast as a clash.

Just wear the red one every game. Wouldn't fuss me. We're kind of like Carlton now which sucks.

Never shall we be like those Karmichael Hunt's

NEVER....

Nor do I ...

and I dont see clashes in half the supposed instances that apparently require us to alter from our beloved Red and Blue

That was one of two things that cost us that game.

The other being Clint Bartram.

Does anyone know if the Home jumper has the MFC monogram embedded in it like it did last year? Can't really tell from the pic

Agreed, no clash there. AFL should have no issue with that????

I've got a feeling the AFL want to have always home and away jerseys a bit like the American sports.

I hope they force teams like Collingwood, Essendon etc. to get actual away jerseys not the pitiful excuses they bring out now.

When have we worn all white? Are you just conditioned to it now?

I am attached to the blood red yolk with the dark navy blue style.

This is everyone's first choice, but we now find AFL Teams dictated to by the AFL (well most are)

I would argue, and have, that the white is more aligned to our history than a movement toward the kind of 'all-red' clash strip that we are talking about.

I would argue that the white is more aligned with the last few years.

I am not going to get into it as I don't mind the red clash strip, but an all red number is a step I am not that comfortable with.

That's fine, it's a big step and I think most have softened their stance on the white strip.

If people thought our last clash strip made us look like Sydney, we would look like GC in all red.

We'd look like Sydney too!

My only argument is this - I didn't mind seing the Bulldogs in all red this year. I don't want to see a red strip being anything other than an away strip when we cant wear our traditional jumper.

If we play Adelaide or St Kilda or other teams away, I would assume the AFL wouldn't allow us to play in the red strip with white shorts. They certainly wouldn't allow the traditional jumper with white shorts.

So, I'm saying I'd rather all red than all white in that situation - I certainly don't want it in place of our navy with red yoke ever.

i'm glad we sorted that out.

As long as we get to wear the proper guernsey when we make the 2015 Grand Final, I'm ok.

If it means us making the GF next year I really don't give two shytes if we are wearing the white Guernsey. I would sacrifice that to see us jump that far up the ladder

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team.
