And hopefully we will soon add to that list

Am I correct in assuming we will know the answer on Newton by Wednesday ?

I think his manager said it would be sorted out by mid week. That is where wednesday reference has come from.

Thankyou.

There are 3 delisted free agency periods, if anyone has a simple explanation of the difference for each it would be helpful.

The second one is after the second list lodgement which is on about 15 November and the third is a week or so after the draft. So Clubs can reassess their lists after the Delisted Free Agency period and any players they have picked up which might cause other players to be delisted, thus creating new spaces that allow a delisted free agent to be picked up that couldn't have been in the first period. Same thing applies after the draft. Some teams may not have used picks they thought they would because players they wanted weren't available or whatever other reason so they have availability to pick up DFA's that they wouldn't have taken before the draft.

Seems like this kid will be a good pick up. Hope it goes through.

Will it be pick 2 in the PSD?

Most likely DFA.

The PSD is dead in my personal opinion.

Thanks for that, makes sense.

Interesting that now that Richmond has beaten St Kilda to Taylor Hunt, will they tend towards McCartin over Petracca?

Why would that make any difference? St Kilda will pick who they think will be the best player in four year's time.

lol

Hunt is list filler - players of his talent would have no bearing on the talents a team takes at the top of the draft.

I'm presuming this is why you're a solicitor and not a mathematician, W_J. ;)

I think blease had promise just needed training. He had outstanding pace which is rare but was quite a selfish player.

I did add what in legal terms is a "rider" (and let me hasten to add on this day of all days that this doesn't mean a jockey). The rider was that after the initial four players, I would be adding to the list as further DFA confirmations were announced.

For those whose legal knowledge is limited, I have amended the OP to minimise the confusion among lay people who struggle with difficult legal concepts. I expect James Hird and Tanya to become constant visitors to the thread.

So another thread is about to degenerate, in this case into self-absorbed narcissism and blaming everybody else for things they are responsible for, all while Tanya takes comprehensive notes ...:blink::blink:

In software terms, we'd just call it a bug. Your 'counter' should dynamically update itself as your list grows.

Was in opposition territory on the weekend.

The name put forward as a free agent and somebody weve spoken too.

LUKE THOMPSON.

I heard that one as well but I hope not. He's very ordinary.

Would be for a rookie spot you'd think and even then I'd say it was a waste. We can survive a game here or there without key defenders if we have an unprecedented injury list so I'd rather use the spots on more outside run and carry or on an untried tall.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
