Snide and superfluous comments aside, Dawes' view is worth reading. He's really saying it's time for the team to raise the bar, and indicating that's what he expects of himself as well

Talk is good and the sentiment quality I just hope he performs next season is all

Oh, is that all you were saying?

Coz, I understood it as a direct correlation between Dawes marking the ball and us making the finals.

Good.

When Danners took over after a spoon year he immediately began talking finals.

Setting your standards high can't hurt anymore than the last eight years have.

Time to start? What the hell were they trying to do the last 7 years

Building the best VFL team in the ALF is my guess.

This is always the best part of the Dawes 500k season, and he is suspended yet again," if it is to be it is up to others."

Dawes has been a fantastic pick up.

Leader.

Culture changer.

Teacher.

Stop [censored] turning on him!

Yes but his main job is to kick goals which he hasn't (please don't give me the 'ball doesn't get down there enough' routine)

Won't deny he's not all of those things, but I didn't have much time for his spray at JKH for that "selfish" goal, when he did the exact same thing himself multiple times, despite players presenting in the goal square. There's one such example in this video.

Agree - I didn't either, but I'm sure they've both spoken about that and moved on...

Is it?

I suspect his main role is to provide structure/target, forward pressure and leadership on the field. Which I think he did reasonably well for most of the year.

Probably lost his way a little late (had plenty of mates) but if he gets a pre season in I think he'll have a big year next year.

In my opinion, he's the best leader we have.

If we are going to get near or in the eight I think it would be easier (if there such a word) to get there if he was playing for us rather than not in this current football generation.

How about we aim on getting out of the bottom 2 for a change?

by the time we get out of bottom 2 we will have 22 top 5 draft picks out on the ground!

One of the most talented lists in the comp?

lol wat?

We probably do. I think we're only a Dangerfield away from making the finals in 2015, but obviously that won't happen, so seeing Viney, Toumpas, Tyson, Watts, Hogan, McDonald, Kent, JKH, Jetta all improve will have to do.

Do we have a better list than we did in 2010? I'd argue that that potentially we do. I don't think we've had so many young players impress in one year as Tyson, JKH, Jetta, Kent did in 2014 for a very long time.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
