You would have to think if Griffen does get to GWS it involves pick 4 which should remove GWS ability to trade up to get Petracca. Come on dogs get the deal done.

not necessarily unfortunately, they also want Jaksch. could be a swap & pick, but Jaksch has nominated Visy park?

Today starts off mainly all about GWS

Bulldogs-Giants Battle

A tense battle between the Giants and the Bulldogs is set to kick off today, as the Giants attempt to secure Ryan Griffen from the club. The Bulldogs insist they will hold Griffen to his contract, despite him requesting a trade.

Mark Whiley and Kristian Jaksch

The Giants could send Whiley, Jaksch and pick 19 to the Carlton in exchange for pick 7. The Giants would then use picks 4 and 7 to attempt to trade with the Bulldogs for Ryan Griffen.

Joel Patfull

The Giants are also today expected to secure Patfull from the Lions in exchange for pick 21. That pick could then be used in a deal to secure Allen Christensen from the Cats.

Swans fuming

The Sydney Swans are fuming today after the AFL told the club they cannot trade any players into their club this year or next, unless they are prepared to bring an immediate end to the cost of living allowance.

Paddy Ryder

Ryder says he feared for the safety of his unborn son at the height of the club's supplements saga. In an extensive interview in the Herald Sun, Ryder says he felt "badly" let down by the club.

WJ - meanwhile Melbourne waits on a number of the above and other deals to pan out before its own deals can be finalised

Pathetic that players now run clubs. They say "boo hoo I'm unhappy" and coaches get sacked.

GC, Adelaide and Bulldogs have all performed to about the level of their list last year IMO. This isn't a case of clubs being horrible like we were under Neeld. It's quite sad.

Imagine if I had the power to get my managers sacked for being incompetent... and they actually ARE incompetent. Oh life would be blissful!

Are you kidding? Sack McCartney, i don't care less, but if Griffen wants to stay after requesting a trade AS THE CAPTAIN tell him where to go, Bulldogs.

With our luck this could very well happen this time next year.

Not with how our club is looking off the field. I think we have a pretty stable club we just need to sort out the team and get some wins up

Its interesting that Griffin chose GWS as the only place he wanted to go.

Same day AFL restricts SFC from doing "Buddy Like" deals. Could Ryan have been groomed by Sydney but had to suddenly change as AFL said No because of the further outrage?

Or just co-incidental?

If he stays I'd tell him to get [censored]. What a captain, walking out on his club like that and coming back with his tail between his legs.

The tail may be wagging the dog, but the players need a coach they respect.

Port Adelaide clearly play for their coach, they respect him, he earned that respect.

McCartney was a bit of an authoritarian - and that is never going to work with a fragile list.

So the dogs do need a new coach, and this is regardless of Griffen threatening to leave.

Today's players will respond better to a coach who's ego has completely disappeared, that is why Buckley is also finding life tough.

These coaches aren't adapting to the times, they know their footy - but their people handing skills are lacking.
We are lucky to have Paul Roos.

No chance he can stay now.

They did say they had no intention of indulging his wish. There's a chance.

I can't listen to Nathan Brown anymore, Im out.

Probably the dumbest footballer I have heard speak. Ever.

BT says hi and woww-eeee!

A Dogs caller just suggested that they get a great coach like Guy McKenna, Bomber Thompson, or, wait for it... Mark Neeld!

I nearly died.

I nearly died.

I'd love to see Neeld back in box crippling another club, I miss watching those awkward post-game interviews where he would drag a player in with him after a 120 point belting because he couldn't face the media by himself.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
