There are two planes. One is going from New York to London at 700km an hour and the other is going from London to New York at 600km an hour. When the planes meet which one is closer to London?

When did they take off? Same time or different time.

Or if you mean they smash into each other, the one leaving London is closer.

Haven't heard from GNF for a while......

I don't think I am going out on a limb by saying he won't be on the Demonland banner haha

I still lov ya GNF - appreciate the info - clearly things didn't pan out as planned

Even Carlton are getting stuff done now:

- Jaksch, Whiley and pick 19 to Carlton in exchange for pick 7 to GWS. (Confirmed)

???? Watts & P-23 to GWS for P-7 ????????????????????????? would they for for it ?

Posted (edited)

Pick 3 & 40 too Crows for Pick 10, Taylor Walker & Pick 31.

Pick 10 & 31 too GWS for Pick 7, 40 & Frost.

Hilarious. First pick 40 is gone for Stretch. Somehow we give it to the Crows and then GWS magically has it.

Second look at this "Pick 10 & 31 too GWS for Pick 7, 40 & Frost." Do you see anything wrong with it? Unless you think GWS are totally insane.

ahh yes, but then technically they wouldn't meet

On the radar it would look like it. And it depends on the earth curvature, and at 5567km

a2 = 39632 + x2 = 15705369 + x2

Solving for x,

x
2
= a
2
- 15705369

a must be 3963 miles + 6 feet (Let's say the men are actually 6'3", so their eyes are six feet above ground.). Thus

a = 3963.001136 miles

x
2
= 15705378 - 15705369 = 9

x = 3 miles

Now, remember that each man looks 3 miles to the horizon, giving their distance from each other as 6 miles.

This shows that at eye level of 6 ft. the horizon is 3 miles (at sea or on a level plain).

A rule-of-thumb for line of sight problems such as this, where the distance is small in comparison to the size of the earth is

c = (2/3) times x2, where x is distance in miles and c is curvature in feet.

For the problem at hand, we then have x2 = (3/2)c

x
2
= (3/2)
multiply.gif
6 = 9

x = 3

.......................................................ahhhhhh I give up.

The only time of day I have to work..

Gonna miss the big announcement!! (Or nothing at all)

Ok I'm going to be offline until 3.15.

If Kennedy hasn't been announced as a Demon when I'm back, I will rain down burning hell fire on you all.

Cheers

So the indicative draft order has swans first pick (not already committed) at 58 or there abouts. If they have there eye on someone in the first round they will deal but I hope we retain one of 2 or 3 apologies if this has been mentioned previously but the tread has morphed into a monster one

If Josh Kennedy comes to Melbourne this trade period - I will put on a free barrel at my joint! If he comes for picks 2 & 3, then its passion pop.

If it's for picks 2 & 3, give me the empty bottles. I'll be turning them into molotov cocktails.

No idea about something happening, but the negative tone of our trade period so far is kind of surprising. Given up assets of essentially no value to us for two players that are in our best-22...quite chuffed.

But i guess we expect rival clubs want to give these players away when the reality is we'd have to pay massive overs to get an A or B grader who doesn't want to leave...

I don't think people realise rival clubs don't want to give up developed quality players so easily

It's not up to the rival club if you can convince the player to leave. This trade period is/ was the opportunity to poach a big fish. We (should) have the cap space to bring in any player and we have the picks to satisfy any club in a trade.

Think this is why its peaked peoples interest, you can see why they'd think about it. Heeney plus 2/3 certainly gives their reign longevity!

Really???

Frawley played forward with little effect. Replaced in the side with Hogan.

Terlich was running off half back. Replaced with Lamumba.

We didn't even have a crumbing forward. Insert Garlett.

Clark didn't play..hence no loss.

How do we have a weaker squad?

How anyone can think our squad is stronger now than at the end of trade period last year is beyond me. Hogan would have been come into the side regardless and would have formed a forward line with Clark and Dawes with Watts/Howe as fourth. Frawley would've slotted back into defence with Dunn, McDonald and co.

So far we have added Lumumba and Garlett. Both are handy role players but don't address our key issues. My concerns are that:

  • Our midfield has not been touched at all and our former captain is one year into a crippling injury with at least another year of recovery to go.
  • Hogan is a completely unproven quantity at AFL level and is a kid who has spent a year out with injury. He is a great long term prospect but the expectations we are placing on this kid are still extreme and I question whether next year he will far exceed what Frawley produced as a forward this year.
  • Frost is similarly unproven. He may end up the second coming of Matthew Scarlett or the second coming of Tom Gillies. Who knows?
  • We can debate whether or not pick 3 is "overs" for Frawley but the chances that the kid we draft with will match his output in either of the next two years is remote.

Honestly, unless we miraculously prise a seriously good player in the last 24 hours of this trade period, we finish well behind where we were at 12 months ago.

    THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

    Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
