So Garlett and Lumumba will be our only trades?

Nobody knows

Nobody on here, and nobody in the media

The only people that know are the ones sitting in the meetings, ie. Todd Viney and Josh Mahoney

and not even they will know until the deadline passes as anything can pop up any minute for them im sure

What contingency? It would be extremely naive of the club if all our trade ideas were hinged on everything going according to plan.

How about a contingency plan that allows for a bump or 2 in the road. So that if something unplanned is to happen, it doesn't send all our trade ideas down the drain.

What contingency plan? ..............................Let's call it the 'common sense' contingency plan.

So you have inside knowledge on everyone we have approached ?

You have inside knowledge on everyone we have targeted ?

You are reacting to rumor and scuttlebutt like everyone else.

Truth is no one knows who we have targeted, what we have offered and the reactions to the offers by both the player and the club.

You are looking at the outside cover of book with no idea of what is written inside.

I do get slightly irritated at those who just think that players are queuing up to come to our club and the opposition clubs are just going to let them walk. We are slightly more attractive now we have Roos but many keep forgetting that we finished 2nd bottom and are not looking at finals contention in the short term. Trading is very complicated unless we are talking about NQR's, other clubs refuse, pre-retiree's and last chance footballers. The big ticket items are difficult to dislodge and usually have a preference for a better club.

I am sure we have thrown a net over lots of potentials with lots of knock backs and lots of not being able to dislodge them from their clubs. We have one and half days and i am philosophical about what will happen. We will either get a ready made footballer or go to the draft with pick and 2 and 3

We should have $$$$ to throw around, players want success but they want money more. We'd have a million in the cap just with Frawley and Clark walking out the door not to mention guys like Blease, Tapscott, Strauss who were no doubt on more money than they should've been, it's probably close to another million with those 3.

Hi All.

I would just like to let everyone know that my post regarding Kennedy was a genuine post from a good friend/source. You can check my history in 'topics'. I started a thread in June stating that Frawley was gone and the club understand this. This was way before anybody thought he was actually going. My source has always been on the ball, so I will back the information I was given in. To the mods, please leave this thread up.

Thanks guys,

Go Dees

I for one believe you! Thanks mate and god I hope it's true. What's effectively pick 2 + Frawley for Kennedy and Lumumba I would do in a heartbeat. Hopefully we have a few other tricks up our sleeve as well to upgrade 23 and either the Clark pick or the pick we get back from the Swans

You are arguing against yourself - we should have $$$$ to throw around - correct. Players want money more than success - if that is the case - where is the queue lining up to come to the door.

I disagree that players want money more than success - they can have both. I talked to 2 ex players and they both said that if they are offered 500K by their own successful club and 600K by Melbourne - they would take the successful club every day. Dawes came to us because we offered significantly more than Collingwood did - same with Clark.

I have little doubt that we have been throwing $$$$'s around trying to lure players - from what I am seeing I can only conclude that the players don't want our $'s and the reasons are staring us in the face. We went to the AFL to ask for assistance in the draft - why ? because we are such a great club ? We stink it up big time and I can see this boat turning under Roos but very slowly at the moment. I dont think that we haven't put out feelers for all sorts of players - I would suggest they just dont want to come.

Anyone for a last minute deal that looks like this:

Our pick 3 and 23 to Adelaide/Gold Coast for their pick 8/9 + A grade player? We still get the DL faves of Brayshaw and Lever but a ready-to-go-now player (instead of drafting for #23)

Glad I'm out for the day rather than refreshing DL every five min.!

One could be so lucky....

Of course if its $500k compared to $600k they'd stay with a successful club over a perennial cellar dweller. But if it's $350k-$400k compared to $600k-$700k it becomes a different story.

I can't understand Hallahan wanting to go to gc17.

He won't be in their first, second or third midfield rotation.

Perhaps he is partial to their 4th.

It would seem unfathomable to the public that Kennedy would be traded by Sydney

But, for reasons I wont go in to, I've just had conformation they're close.

We have a substantial offer on the table.

HL, Garlett and Frost plus our new draft picks will all probably wish to be paid.

I'd love to get Kennedy but I'd feel less uneasy about it if it didn't cost us 2 AND 3.

Of course, HL will be on $400-$500k, Garlett and Frost shouldn't be on too much, $300k max, draft picks go on to rookie contracts. We should still have about 10% of our cap to play around with.

Wow, so despite the mania of last nights thread, Joey Kennedy is still a rumour.

Partyboy, any idea (should the rumour be true) what we're offering... are we no longer in to Brayshaw?

EDIT: Let me add that I was an early sceptic last night.. alas, the persistence of this rumour engages me.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
