Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

How so? Doesn't that mean they would be totally surprised if he left, suggesting right now they don't believe he wants out?

It means he is positioning hmself for D's defection, feigning 'being staggered'. Otherwise he would just reiterate and confirm what is assumed, that Dangerfield is happy to stay at the club. Why even speculate, if they are so sure. Make sense?

his choice of the word "staggered" knowingly puts pressure on Dangerfield, trying to make him (Dangerfield) feel as if him leaving the crows would "shock" them, as they take him as being a "loyal/upstanding" member etc.

Typical mind games associated with this period of time. Can/will Danger withstand them? We shall see.

I think this all hangs ion the announcement of the compo we will receive for Frawley if he goes. once that is official I feel all convoluted deals will fall into place quickly.

This is at a point now where if Frawley actually stays he will be forever blamed for us not being able to trade for Dangerfield.

Probably best that James shoots thru.

Is it sad that when I read this post I could not help but lmao?

Oh and just realised noone had posted since last night and felt the topic needed further oxygen lol.

Patrick is not in MFC's Cart (yet) but he is definelty on the Wish List

Much as we all feel that Dangerfield will be a big boost to the Club, I am confident that we will see us use picks 2-3 to better effect and gaining 2-4 high calibre players for the midfield or a combination of key position and midfield options, citing last year's Tyson trade as an example.

I think that is and always has been the plan.

Mind you though if Dangerfield says he is not happy at the Crows then its good to see that our lines already in the water.

Doesn't necessarily mean it's over.

If we have been talking to Danger and he wants to come, the Crows would be mad to say no and risk getting nothing for him next season.

Song I think they needed to say something and this seems the standard fare for clubs in this situation although they, like everyone else, are waiting to see what Patrick and his manager say when they sit down to discuss extending his contract post 2015

Do I really think we'll get him; probably not. That's Mr Reality

Do I really want him at Melbourne ; you bet !! That's Mr Hopeful

However the dance of subterfuge that is Trade season rarely moves to either a normal beat or recognisable choreography.

It is however a game of bluff, double bluff, counter bluff and bluff and bravado. Often things are not as they seem and even when they are they can change.

What we see currently is in the main clubs and players/managers testing the waters. They often can't be seen to be too enthusiastic about this or that lest a perceived value or price rises as a result. Some trades/moves become simple ( relatively ) Lumumba being a prime example; I'm outta here , I want to go there. Do it - make it happen.. Done

Then there's the rest. Opening gambits, tentative refusals ,coy interest, blatant lying, changes on the fly, opportunities seized. Any combination can happen , even all of the above. It's horse trading 101. What if, how about, not good enough , interested but.....and so we go on.

Though some things can be sorted prior to the commencement of the official trading period even as our learned poster Red Leg suggest some can be a very 'old deal ' a lot of deals only really gather legs and speed once other deals/trades happen. It's the domino effect. Sometimes some very surprising results happen that could not possibly have been realistically entertained at the beginning.

The thing is, players and clubs alike can change minds after a rethink or as other permutations unfold.

I still don't think its likely Danger will be a Dee, but I don't write it off out of hand as being 100% impossible either.

Words are words.... Actions can be vastly different

Good post bb.

Even with posters posting their 'inside' info - those who say we've been in close discussions with Adelaide and Dangerfield's manager and that a deal is brewing, and those that say Dangerfield has flat out rejected the idea of coming to the MFC could all be right, even if the information is conflicting. Even with the best and most current info - people can lie, and people can change their minds. I wouldn't ever categorically decide anything until the deal (or non-deal) is done.

I think it is a wonderful ploy to suggest we could offer pick 2 & 3 for Danger.

Every club would [censored] up their ears. Melbourne are seriously open to trading, what could we offer for 2 & 3 or just 2?

I have no doubt we are interested in Danger. I think it far more likely this will shake another deal out of the tree, probably with GWS. I expect another Tyson like deal rather than a superstar like Danger.

I hope we keep pick 2 and trade pick 3.

Edit: Can't say [censored]! Please administrators can we fix that?

I don't have any new information, and no idea what Dangerfield will do.

But everything I was told, and posted, has gone public in the last 24 hours.

Suit yourself, but I'm taking refuge in the confirmation of interest and offers. Gotta be in it to win it.

If the trade were to happen I can see both sides right now posturing to blame the other for the trade. Adelaide are saying no we want to keep him which makes it look like dangerfield requested the trade while danger and his manager say they want to stay which makes it look like Adelaide couldn't refuse this trade.

As an aside , how marvelously it seems to have slipped under the noses of many that we MUST ( heads up from awful house likely ) be getting pick 3 and Frawley is definitely gone ( no surprise granted ) ^_^

I think we should tune up the auto censor.

These words should be acceptable, [censored] ([censored]) as in spike, [censored] (bltch) as in to complain.

When you allow [censored] or fukker it seems somewhat churlish.

Happy for you to delete this.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
