GOODBYE MITCH CLARK

Yes Jones bleeds red and blue, but I think I said that about Frawley last year. He is in contract negs so that is a much better situation. As I have said before, where can I get a list of players with 1 month to go on their contracts? All are expendable

Sorry I meant 1 year, been a big day at the golf course!

apparently big Mitch couldn't control little Mitch in his last days at AAMI Park.....

So many scenarios going through my head right now... More info please!

This is the best of the Bold and the Beautiful right here.

I had heard something similar.

Have also heard the powers that be at MFC (including players') think it's in the best interest of all parties that MC & MFC part ways.

But i'm just a simple poster on demonland, so i'm unsure sure if true or not.

I don't think that means much. If we have another poor season I can't think of a reason why he would stay, he wants success.

Maybe he wants to earn that success instead of going the easy way.

Could have been phrased differently perhaps.

or not........

I find it crazy that players, example Frawley, would leave to walk into a club that will play finals.

You're exactly right in your post, personally, I would want to earn that success.

I suppose it's also a sign of the times, and its trending to football players as well, they want it now.

Yes including our lovely 16 year olds. No working hard nowadays, it has to fall into your lap! But just like our kids, players are the same, some will work hard and earn the accolades and some expect it to just happen or others to make it happen around them.

Anyone care to elaborate on the whole big Mitch, little Mitch thing? Been a long week, I cant think make sense of anything at the moment.

If it's Mitch Clisby they are referring to he is a party boy, a bit loose on a evening out...

Just trade the [censored] to the highest bidder. None of this tip-toing around 'poor' Mitch and letting him choose.

Whatever the best deal is for the MFC.

I'd quite like to see him at GWS for Shiel (or part thereof).

If it turns out he never plays another game, then Collingwood is fine.

He's spent 8 years at a cr@p club that is so far away from playing finals, he has earns the right to chase some success.

It isn't a sign of the times.

Club Champs like Alves and Wells did it over 30 years ago.

My suggestion is that it's becoming more prevalent, I didn't say it never happened in the past.

Both Alves and Wells went to those clubs virtually against their will, they both wanted to stay but the club felt the offers to good and asked them to go for the good of the club.

Have heard this straight from the horses mouth.

Players now are looking for success handed to them, it was clear from Frawley's last season that he had no intention of putting anything on the line for the good of the team, let alone his body.

Perhaps the 8 years wouldn't be quite so cr@p if players like him who should be leading by example didn't throw the toys out of the pram and seek success by taking short cuts.

Yes I remember an MFC official admitting they shopped Wells against his will. The officials rang him and said your on your bike and sorry but it is about money. The reason the club has always battled, lack of funds and particularly lack of brains at the top end.

Jones isn't going anywhere.

He already has 3 b&f's under his belt and he bleeds red and blue.

Blah blah blah

Hilarious and one I hadn't heard yet.

Wasn't it 200k for Wells? ... a lot of money in those days

Wells played his last game for us in round 13 of 1980 and he had 48 possessions! (not a bad note to leave on)

He played his first game for Carlton in round 15 of 1980 against .... Melbourne and picked up 31 possessions

Plays golf with my dad, still a true and committed demon

An A grade player and later on was Northey's right hand man (Chairman of selectors) He was the equal of Flower in my opinion - never played a bad game.

Nathan Jones is a reasonable comparison except Wells was strong overhead, a better kick and got more of it. Like Jones, he never got due credit because he played in such a poorly performed team.

Consistently in the state team however and was of the best players in the league for a long time.

All those players were on the downward slide, of their career - did any play more than three seasons for their second club?

Thanks to free agency players are able to move when they should be entering the peak of their career.

I loathe free agency.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

We'll break down the Match SIM against North Melbourne and wrap up the preseason with insights into training and our latest recruits.
