But from where would the backlash come? I wouldn't expect there to be much except from the minority of the most bitter Demons fans (I think many here, myself included, would wish Mitch all the best whatever he decides to do in the future). Not that I wouldn't be a little bit further heartbroken by such a scenario. The wider footballing world surely wouldn't give a fig.

Backlash probably wasn't the right word but the media would be all over it and some people would been questioning him about hesding to another club.. Just think if he slotted back in at the dees he'd be less scrutinised

Agreed, but given the mental health background it would be pretty low for the media to hound the guy over loyalty issues. In fact, such is the MFC hatred that prevails in most AFL media circles they would probably congratulate Mitch for taking himself away from the "toxic" MFC environment.

I like all here would love to see Mitch run out on the the MCG with the Dees next year. Though if this is not to happen i would hope that Mitch would at least provide the MFC with the chance to trade him to Freo or to where ever he intends to go, rather than just walking off to another club and leaving the Dees down a top 20 pick and no compensation. I believe he is a decent enough person to look after the dees as far as he can.

I am not sure that is the case either. I believe we came to a settlement of this year's obligations.
