I have said this for months and nothing has changed. If MC plays again it will only be with the MFC. He has been training for sometime under a MFC derived program. He does still desire to play again

I wish Mitch all the best as far as his health. Should he however ever play AFL and it NOT be at the Dees then id be asking some questions. The first of which would be when you paying us back.

Don't know about high flying, but it will certainly flap, if Mitch plays with us next year.

It has been my view for a while now that he will, hope I am correct on this one.

Just hypothetically , because I dont really think for a moment it would happen ( leaning towards realism here ) How would he rejoin the Dees ? What are the available paths to secure him ?

Primary List

Players delisted by a club are unrestricted free agents but a player who retires or delists himself is not eligible to be a free agent.

It would sit a lot easier with a lot of people that if Mitch and the club felt that he is is a good enough space to continue his career, that the MFC ask the commission and the other clubs for permission to allow Mitch back onto our list rather than going to the Commission for a PP.

Didn't Essendon do something similar in regards to Ramanauskas?

I agree though that we can't just put him on the list as you point out.

good point...precedent set. like to see the 4th Estate deride that!! Even morally barren EFC couldnt object

He is in melbourne and training as some have said. He still loves the club, so I think if he plays at this level again, it will be for us.
Unless he moves lol, if he moves to perth any time soon, he clearly won't be playing for us.

Not sure what to read into his training.. Obviously part of his rehab would be to engage in some exercise to help fill the void left by footy, give himself something to do and feel good about himself . Or he could be ramping it up for a comeback, who really knows.

I know I am a dreamer but I think it possible that the whole delisting story was just that , a story to help take the pressure off Mitch, and in kahoots with the AFL he will be able to play for us if he can return next year.

I suggest this move still leaves the door open???

Thats interesting

In that scenario he can come to us (or any other team - shudder) as a delisted free agent

I see it more as the option of not having to delist him at all if all and sundry deem he is ready to go again :-)

However if the last few years of footy have taught me anything it's that the MFC is not conducive to one's mental health.

I'd rather he played for another team for his own sake than risk relapse in the dead culture mire that our club has become.

Having said that, if the current admin manages to improve the environment around the club then it'd be great to have him back.

As much as it pains supporters, if he's better served by playing for someone else then it's just something we'll have to live with.

His well being has to be the priority over the club.

I miss watching him on the field. He was magic.

I think how significant a loss Mitch is will be a big factor in our potential priority pick, easily our best forward, handy ruck a genuine game changer capable of kicking a big bag of goals and winning us a game

was a huge part of our structure and in my opinion our best player by some way

Does anyone know where Mitch is currently residing? I think he may be back in W.A. and note that he is selling a lot of his photography gear yet still canvassing for photography work. Doesn't sit well with me and I fear he is still quite unsettled

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze.     With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals.
