Are you there Caro?

Time to show how even handed you are in dealing out the crap that gets smeared on clubs in order to sell papers.

There are a lot more Blues fans than Demon fans. Should be good for the circulation figures.

Damn, Port are good. Exciting, tough and just look how many times they hit a target!

Thank god we beat Carlton then.

I like watching Port play, but part of me is infuriated watching teams bottom out and skyrocket up the ladder so quickly while we continue to rot year in, year out.

Port playing like this is good for the finals if you're a neutral. They are looking dangerous, although their opposition have let them waltz around as they please.

Carlton were really on the up of late. This has been a shocking night for them.

36 scoring shots to a measly 12!

Malthouse either is tanking or he has Roos as his back line coach and Lyon as his forward line coach.

A cynical man might ask some questions about what Port are on... a man who has seen a team go from zero to hero so quickly, but not in our great untainted game.

Posted

One thing for us that's different to last year is that we haven't had a cricket score like that kicked against us, as far as I can recall... Nice to see it happening to other teams.

Power are everything Melbourne aren't.

Hard to think they were with us down the bottom of the ladder 3 seasons ago.

Now look at where they are and where we r.

Bet Wines is happy he got picked up by them rather than us.

Blues have gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in the space of a week.

They were stiff not to beat one of the flag favs last week, now flogged by a side that struggled on both occasions in 2014 to beat the lowly Dees.

Funny game.

To be fair, we're not getting the grief from her that I've come to expect. You could go so far as to say she was actually being quite supportive (in Footy Classified that I've seen anyway).

So, in this instance, maybe 'Are you there Damian?' might be closer to the mark (or, 'Are you there Purple?')

Hard not to skyrocket with Boak, Hartlett, Wines and Wingard in the side.

Port were fortunate to get a top 5 kid in Polec for cheap and get Ebert dirtcheap.

SA sides only have to compete against each other when players want to come home.

Vic clubs have to compete with many more sides and the weak Vic clubs - like MFC - just are not a chance.

We got Dom Tyson and Bernie Vince at the end of last year and we will have $'s to spend on players coming on to our list.

Port did well to lift itself up by the bootstraps. It was a combination of many things including good recruiting, administration, player development, a top fitness coach, hard work and luck. The stars aligned for them in that regard and I hope they do well.

Having said that, we nearly beat them a month ago and I expect we will have a much better list at our disposal next year.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

Thankfully, the offseason has recharged me, and I’m back—ready t
