Pick 2 on The Table Again

FCS don't get carried away with running 2nd or 3rd in the Bluey. Matt Jones, Terlich & Garland have been doing that recently.

IMHO Tyson is going to be solid B Grader. Doubts over disposal, pace and very one sided. GWS knew they could let him go as they have so many similar or better.

At this stage I would love to take back those TWO picks at 2 & 20 and select Josh Kelly & Lewis Taylor with them.

You need some elite talent and not just a team of B & C Graders.

you are kidding yourself

he's played 33 games and he consistently racks up 30 touches and doesn't mind a goal either

basically the only bloke on the list who actually looks the goods

Paul Roos just said Pick 2 or a priority pick is on the market again at years end.

I dont like it. Last year's excuse was that there was any big bodied midfielders in the top end.

This year we have Petracca and Brayshaw as potential picks and we are still going to trade it away?

I always said we must unfortunately rebuild through the draft and start fresh.

Paul Roos is after fix fixes im afraid..

And so it should be. It's been clear for quite a while that the forthcoming draft crop are a particularly dull bunch. I'd rather see who we can get with two to three seasons under their belt. Further, I don't think it's any coincidence that the day we ask for draft assistance (ie a PP), Roos says the pick would be on the table. He's clearly flagging that we'd be prepared to simply have a bargaining chip at the trade table, rather than a fresh faced teen. The right approach, IMO.

Kelly and Taylor also look the goods.

They're not doing what Tyson is doing and they're not good enough to be tagged yet. Pretty early in the year most AFL coaches realised Tyson was our most dangerous player and started tagging him. Those that didn't, did by the end of the game.

Don't kid yourself this kid is well on the way to being a A grader, reminds me a lot of Boak the way he goes about it. No nonsense, hard at the footy and can kick a good goal when the team needs it.

I'd like to see us actually draft one of these top picks and see him become an absolute superstar who plays 200 plus games for the Dees. Trading them out just makes it look like we are incapable of identifying the talent and developing them into a genuine A-grade footballer.... although the track record would suggest that to be true.

It depends if our recruiters deem there is that elite talent in this crop.

I think Petracca will come out very similar to Dustin Martin. That isn't too bad.

I'd rather another Dom Tyson, if we're giving up a top pick.

If clubs can't sign their players a year out, they will start putting them up for trade. This goes for non-free-agents as well. Happens all the time in soccer and I suspect probably in US sports too. Roos has flagged we'd do this with guys entering their FA prime, but I reckon it'll start with non-FA's too.

He doesn't have the pace of Boak, but I think he's better at finding it than Boak. Pretty apt comparison though, IMO.

Those that are saying Tyson will be a C or B grader at best, are smoking the good stuff.

Just to echo the above, pretty confident the only reason Roos has floated pick 2 and not the compo Frawley pick is just because he can't talk about that as a fait accompli as yet.

But make no mistake, if we end up with picks 2 and 3 I'm confident we'll trade one and keep the other, especially if we get an end of first round PP to trade as well.

Depends how the club rates Petracca I guess.

This. Not many seem to get it. You can't talk about a pick you don't have but you can certainly bait the hook

We picked up two good quality midfielders in Vince and Tyson, to add to our stocks of ONE other good quality midfielder in Jones.

Sadly, as much as Roos did last off season in terms of trading in players to fill holes, we still have enormous deficiencies which cannot be fixed by drafting.

As well as the midfield we have a gaping hole up forward which Hogan cannot fill.

I'm all for us trading our top picks again, for the right price.

Trade for Jeremy Cameron l reckon

but you also have to give back Salem who was rated the best kick in that draft and we sure do need someone who can kick

They always say that, but who is best available?

He said they won't pick based on 'need'. such as their need for a key forward.

Will pick 'best available'.

There's no point being a good kick if you can't find the football. Or have we forgotten Strauss and Tapscott already?

I get that and they always say it but who is best available? that will be the question. I would be surprised if they don't take McCartin but happy for us to take him if they don't.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
