Murphy missed a set shot from 12 yds out directly in front tonight.

We dropped McKenzie for a similar blunder, though he kept Hanley to just over half the possessions he gained the previous week.

I bet the Blues don't have the same knee-jerk reaction. We could have made good use of Jordie against the Hawks.

Murphy is one of the top echelon players in the league. McKenzie is a plodder lucky to still be paid as a professional athlete.

Also do you really think the only reason McKenzie was dropped was because he missed one goal, even if it was a howler? Don't be daft.

Yes, I think that is why he was dropped, and it think it was daft.

In response to "Dr" Gonzo, it' s blatantly obvious that Murphy is an elite player, and McKenzie isn't. I was just pointing out that even the most skilful player can miss a sitter. I think that miss was the main reason McKenzie was dropped, and I think it was an error.

And the winner for the worst thread and initial post goes to......

Mckenzie's missed goal was two weeks ago and was posted to death in the post match discussion thread...move on.

I hope you've been on the sauce tonight mate, cos McKenzie wouldn't carry Marc Murphy's bags.

And it wasn't a knee jerk reaction given McKenzie has never been able to kick, and also missed a set shot against Port the week before from 30m out which might have been the difference there too.

Yeah it wasn't his previous poor games, lack of skill, lack of disposals, it was that one missed goal...

JJC. I know you're trying to make your argument by the logic of the absurd but the problem is that you've picked a poor example. Murphy is a classy footballer for who the miss in front of goal was an aberration while in Jordie's case, that shocker against Brisbane from 12 metres out was more typical of his poor disposal skills by foot. For all of his many other attributes, this has to condemn him in a team that is now losing more games than it wins through turnovers from players who simply butcher the football. I know he's not on his Pat Malone in this regard but I think our recruiting and pre season training will require a lot of hard work on disposal skills and it's for that reason that if Jordie can't improve rapidly in this area, he's destined to be traded or find himself more and more often at Casey.

Don't like bagging our players but I wasn't surprised when Jordie missed. Very surprised Murphy missed last night.

Sorry but as we move forward I think Jordies time is up

Even the best players in the league sometimes f'k up, whatever, they're allowed to make mistakes because it's not like it's a problem of their's. Marc won't get dropped so don't be silly about it.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
