Jack Grimes

You expect too much. There are MANY first round draft picks who aren't even in the system anymore.

There are many top round picks who are achieving more. There are many lower draft picks achieving more. He has an occasional outstanding game but is overall too error prone and agree he barely makes the team. To see your captain make that many crucial errors has to have an impact on morale. He needs to be relieved of the captaincy. N Jones has taken the extra responsibility well, added even more dimensions to his game. If N Jones started to regularly play shockers, you can bet a lot more would be said.

So was Cale Morton and much higher. Jack was outside the top 10 and after 84 games, draft selection should have almost no bearing.

For some people, draft selection will always have a bearing on a players performance.

In terms of pick 14's since the draft began I'd bet Grimes would be considered a success in terms of games played.

Can someone give one good reason why he was ever made captain of the MFC?

It wasn't for being able to hit 2 of our players 20m away and 20m in the clear that's for sure.

All I'm going to say, is captains don't kick the ball out on the full under no physical pressure when the games on the line.

And the umpires can die of gynoreah wnd rot in hell.

It was a bad mistake he made late in the game today but no poorer than the Jones decision to play on (take the "advantage") from the free kick a few minutes earlier. Both cost us dearly today.

You forgive him if it was an isolated event but he is a serial offender. Jones has credits in the bank.

I repeat Frank is an average footballer with a big heart.

But he is not going to win us crunch games in the future.

Always been over rated because he does have courage.

Close to the mark there wyl

Poor skills will never ever win you a game

But poor skills will sure as hell cost you victory .

He's ordinary. And a noted out on the full kicker. Decent but not outstanding defensively and poor with the ball. He's only good enough to get a game in a bottom 8 side.

But at the same time we've got lots of other positions to worry about. Not much point pinning all our problems on Grimes. Still have to draft some quality kicks.

He has guts, works as hard as anyone but he is let down in fundamental football skills

crossroads for grimes imo, has the ability but if he doesn't improve his skills he won't be part of our future

Looked like he didn't hear the whistle actually, so hardly worth comparing to a crucial kick straight out on the full when there were open targets.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
