I'm not sure if I'm seeing things tonight but wasn't Lake being eye gouged by Petrie when he retaliated by putting the chocker hold on him.

The commentators seem to have totally missed it and are focussing on Lake's reaction. Am I seeing things?

Yep with you rjay bud, they completely missed it.

One of few times I'll be wanting the hawks to get up. Just can't have the roos

North are the enigma of the AFL. That burst of goals against Hawthorn was reminiscent of what they did to us a fortnight ago and yet last week they struggled against Brisbane.

They're running hot tonight. Interesting last Q coming up.

I reckon Lake is looking at a very long stretch on the sidelines. I reckon Petrie wasn't far of losing consciousness!

I guess the question will be does eye gouging trump the choker retaliation ?

North are certainly an enigma. Maybe we weren't so bad getting beaten by this iteration of Norf, as compared with that which was beaten by Lions.

Stuff the eye gouge... Petrie should have smashed Lake. Absolute dog act.

So what would you do if someone was gouging your eyes?

Didn't see lakes face after...was he actually eye gouged or was it a face massage?

Looked a bit red around the eyes after, Petrie was having a good dig.

I would be surprised if they both don't get weeks.

I'm not an advocate for retaliation, but if someone is on top of you pushing your larynx I think you can forgiven for doing almost anything to get them off you.

Other way around 'Axis', Petrie's fingers went to Lakes eyes then Lake went for the throat the way I saw it. Would really like to see a slow mo of this one.

edit: just had a look at video on the AFL site. They go to ground after a Lake tackle, Lake is on top of Petrie with his arm around Petrie in a headlock then Petrie's fingers go to Lake's eyes. Lake then pushes up and pushes his other hand down on Petrie's throat.

I think Lake is the one retaliating.

Just finished watching GWS v Adelaide and was fascinated by Voldemort's game. I have a feeling that with only 3 kicks and 6 handball's today, the lad might just miss out on the votes for the club best and fairest award, The Kevin Sheedy/Tom Scully Medal.

I'm also fascinated by the fact that every time I see a GWS game, they seem to get a good run from the umpires. I wouldn't mind getting 24 frees to 12 tonight.

According to the stats on the AFL app he had 10 possessions. Thats 10% better than you guys give him credit for.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
